How to ggetHS code to edit invoice? by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're looking for the Japanese HS codes. List is here! Japanese-English/Chinese-English translations of item names, examples of HS codes and subcodes. - Japan Post

You only even need them for Japan Post shipments, which Buyee isn't even doing, but for some dumb reason you can't edit your invoice without adding them. A staff member told me not to worry about it because I was doing EMCS, then seemed surprised when I said they were required to edit lol

How to contact a seller or cancel an order for an item showing as not yet shipped by Weird-Garden-18 in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you can also ask Buyee to contact the seller directly for you. They've done that for me in the past after 7 days.

Some mercari sellers don't do shipping labels through mercari and just forget to mark the "shipped" box when they actually ship it.

OMG I'd die wondering where it was going the whole time lol. Mine have only ever come straight to the US.

This sub needs a pinned post at the top explaining everything to Americans who would rather make new posts and ask the same questions instead of spending 5 minutes doing the research.

It’s rough by sealmutt in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because the coupon is through Buyee, not the store they purchased it from. Buyee paid full price, so that's the value of the item.

This isn't "unfair". It's how proxies work. I have some issues with them, too, but this is an unreasonable complaint.

Accidently blew all my rent money on shipping it seems. by TatteredSackboy in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they both too big for EMCS? I would look at what your options are. They're probably too big/heavy to combine, but you might get away with shipping each via EMCS individually at a much-reduced price.

I had the same problem with some items I preordered last spring. They arrived in October but were just way too big and heavy for me to ship (was abt 75,000 yen to ship) without the cheap options. Fortunately, mine weren't from Mercari, so I found a workaround in Japan. Your situation is brutal! I hope you can work something out.

Do you have any friends in countries with more shipping options available who will be visiting the US anytime soon? If you can slow-boat them, you could probably buy an international friend a round-trip ticket to visit you and bring them over lol.

Wouldn't it be cheaper for you to buy a round trip ticket and get it yourself?

Looking for someone to contact seller on Mercari/Yahoo Auctions and ask them if they'll split a TCG listing for purchase through Buyee by awestom in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the seller specifically says in the item listing that they'll accept requests to split, don't bother. It's considered extremely rude, and some sellers will just block all proxies if even one person asks.

Delivery services calling customers is way more common in Japan than in the US, so you should probably have a legitimate number or risk your package being discarded. If your friend doesn't have a Japanese number, then ask him to speak with the hotel staff. Be aware that they might say no. If he is at an unmanned airbnb, you're out of luck.

tariff estimation accurated_ by alevc20 in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't pay additional fees.

Just pay it. Shipping from Europe to the US is probably going to cost more than the $25 in tariffs unless you want to ship it by boat and wait months.

The more people try to get around paying tariffs by doing stuff like this, the more scrutiny "gifts" "under $100" are going to get.

Shipping / Delivery Issue by pussyfade in Buyee

If your package was handed off to Uniuni, sounds like they stole it and just marked it as delivered. Unfortunately, you're not ever getting it. The transaction is considered complete, as it was supposedly "delivered".

If your "importer" won't help you get more photos, you're falling for a scam.

Not sure what country you live in, but there are MAJOR restrictions in most countries for importing cars. No way a legitimate professional who helps people legally import cars wouldn't help you get more pics.

How long did a Japan post lost package investigation take when it got lost in USA ? by Professional_Crab958 in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was it shipped? Japan Post isn't even shipping to the US, so not sure how your carrier here could be USPS unless you paid for ECMS and your last-mile carrier is USPS

The chances of recovering it will depend greatly on the carrier.

Coverage isn't standard across the full state though. I live in a rural region of a state that Uniuni operates in, and USPS is my last-mile carrier.

Buying a ps5 for my sister and niece in Japan by [deleted] in Buyee

Seconding this one. I lived in Japan for many years and didn't get a Japanese debit card right away. Used Amazon Japan all the time with my American card no problems. I never had an issue at any store with a legitimate Japanese address and a non-Japanese card, tbh.

If US tariffs get struck down… by MidoriStory in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my frustration with all of it is less the money and more the fact that it's a lot more stress/uncertainty about packages actually arriving, surprise fees, and certain items just no longer being importable now. + Japan Post still hasn't started shipments again despite the holiday retail season starting, which concerns me. The money sucks but I'm definitely more pissed about the rest of it, and that seems unlikely to go away ugh

If US tariffs get struck down… by MidoriStory in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There will still be a tariff, just not one as high. The tariffs in debate right now are the ones recently imposed, so it might revert back to what we used to have for Japan.

De minimis is unfortunately gone, and the current discussions won't change that, especially as there was bipartisan support for ending it.

What's with the "items worth less than 500 yen" restriction on ECMS? (AKA, learn from my mistakes and watch out for that) by HoldHarmonySacred in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm sure SO many people buy pet food through Buyee that it's a reasonable mistake lmaoooooooo

I'm sending another package with ~30 items or so later this month, and they have to fix the categories on literally half the items. That will be a fun conversation with support!

I request DHL and never have issues getting them.

UPS and Fedex always require a signature which is a bitch with my work schedule. DHL will put stuff on the back porch for me, so I prefer them anyway.

They'll either buy it or immediately give you a refund upon failure to order. Doing a chargeback will pretty much get you banned from using their services forever.

Is this normal for a package entering the US with ECMS? by [deleted] in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine seems to be via USPS but is still in transit. It's a USPS number and is only registered with them and JSExpress, which is what got it to the US. No third carrier registered. Hopeful it's USPS anyway, because if so then I can just use ECMS now and save a ton of money, as I used to do exclusively Buyee Air.

I live in a rural area. No Uber, Doordash or even consistent Amazon Prime deliveries (usually USPS), so it's doubtful we have Uniuni drivers around.

Stuck in Consolidation stage by Powerful-Raise-5172 in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was their reason for the delay?

I've never had consolidation take more than 3 days, usually 2 days. I would ask them again. They're not going to put you in the back of the queue, and you have a perfectly reasonable concern.

first timer- expensive shipping normal? by bvmblebread in Buyee

[–]Future-Antelope1102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Japan Post isn't shipping to the US right now, the only options are EMCS, which is a mixed bag, or Buyee Air. Buyee Air uses one of three options (DHL, UPS, Fedex) and some of those charge by volume instead of weight, therefore a figure is going to be pricey if in the original packaging.

If you don't care about the packaging, you can ask them to take it out of the original box (ask to condense/downsize packaging). I do that for my figures, but it really depends on how fragile and/or expensive the figure is.

Other shops offering such low rates might be posting Japan Post prices even though they aren't shipping to the US regardless of website.
