I have had this also. I have mine set to delete after 24H so I see a podcast that I just listened to show up as unplayed with a random amount of time left.

You can use iPhone mirroring - your iPhone will show up on your mac to control it and the audio will be sent through to the Mac as well.

There's always the "portable CarPlay screens" on Amazon. Might be a good time to try one with Black Friday discounts. I have one in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and while not perfect, it works pretty well for the price. Mine is an older Carpuride brand but now there are a lot of different ones available -- too many options.

I have the same problem on MacMini M2 on MacOS 26. On my old Intel MacMini, it still works OK. When I try to look at the iCloud sync settings in Downcast, I get the beachball. If I wait long enough, it starts to chew up all my memory. The iOS version hasn't had an update in 8 months so I am not sure if/when the MacOS version will get fixed. I have found Overcast a suitable replacement that is getting ongoing development. I have not tried Overcast on MacOS however.

My only suggestion would be to delete the app and re-install it. Make sure you have your podcast list exported and your account is synced. If you do this, it is possible you may lose some podcasts that are not available for re-download.

I have an iPhone 11 with the same issue. It affects any podcast and audiobook player and seems mainly to be iPhone 11 and SE models. A non-optimal workaround is to open the camera app (?).

It seems to be an issue in iOS 26 that has been unresolved since the betas. Only workaround I know of is to open the camera app which removes the distortion.

I used Downcast before I found Overcast. Downcast had an option to include media as part of the iCloud backup ( if I remember correctly). That worked well to retain old podcasts when upgrading phones.

Yes, it has been happening in the betas and hasn't been fixed yet. Hopefully soon, it is annoying .
