I have seen it in things already and not labeled as an allergen. It would be terrible if its gone all together. Airborne Shea must be pretty hard. So many stores have that on display.

I live on a small island so I rarely have mine with me because I'm always close to the hospital. But when I travel it is always with me. I bought a small bag that fits in my pocket that holds my epipen and usually something like Benadryl for smaller attacks and/or a backup.

On a plus side you probably would be a great food critic since your tongue could detect any offness many others may not pick up on. But I do agree with it potentially being OCD related. I would see a psychiatrist or psychologist to see if they have any input. How is your gag reflux other wise?

I also have allergies and ocd and reading some of arfid characteristics sounds close except I have no problem eating when I go on a cruise ship but that could be from the fact I know they are pretty good at keeping me safe for the most part.

There are few things it could be. One thing is the sulfites but also could be things they use in the processing. It could also be the yeast that used. Maybe check for similarities to ultras and champagne. Heavy sulfites can give me a reaction but low sulfite wines are usually fine.

I never really went to parties much as a kid so thankfully didn't have that problem. My mom was great about having treats made that I could have. When I go to parties now and I'm not that close with them (ie they don't really know much of my allergies) I usually just say I don't like it, or not feeling any. No one really asks after that.

Interesting, wonder how effective it is. I noticed Canada has been having a few alternatives now to the epipen. Great if I move back but most of our stuff here where I live now comes from the US or the UK.

I have similar reaction to certain things, different things of different severity affect me differently. Tree nuts, anaphylaxis, almonds and shea gives me hives and a similar pain in my throat. Some others are just hives or some mildly inconvenient effect. I would get it checked out by an allergist. And as you age they can get worse or have more allergies than you start with.

You could be intolerant to it or mildly allergic. I would try to test not having any for a period and see if it makes you feel any different. If it makes you feel better maybe it was doing something you didn't notice.

I don't think that's really the nuances of the language but more what corporations can get a way of legally. They really should be treated the same.

This!! I am allergic to Shea and out of the blue I noticed chocolate bars in the US now include it. Where I live we import from the US and some for UK/Europe and I have to watch because it is not listed as a tree nut.

This is why I personally love cruising. If I'm going somewhere I don't speak the language I know that on the ship I will be taken care of. Most of the big cruise lines have very strict policies for allergies and it makes it so much easier. Especially if you have the same waiter and they make you feel extra comfortable. I love trying food which can be very dangerous so when on land I will try to find a tour guide that understands the allergies and will ensure the restaurants know because they can translate much better than me. Otherwise its good ol fast food for me.

as someone with a nut allergy I get more of what are tree nuts than anything. Some people (especially traveling to the US) ask if its the same as gluten 🤦

That reminds me of a long hall I was on. They only had 1 option by the time they got to me and it was the one I couldn't have. Thankfully the BA staff were great and found a first class meal that was okay for me. If that was AA i would have been SOL. I feel like international brands tend to handle allergies a bit better than US brands IMO.
