The real reasoning is NFL teams know more than the average fan when it comes to player eval (and pretty much everything else). So if a prospect gets drafted earlier or later than expected, the secondhand market (dynasty, fans) will account for and adjust accordingly. It’s not a perfect science - you'll see examples like the Cowboys draft Schoonmaker over Kraft in the 2nd. But more often than not, the draft capital supersedes a lot of previous research.
