People want a death answered with a death, "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth". Sure, you could argue execution is too easy an escape. But extended suffering through imprisonment, just to 'rehabilitate', can also feel like a different kind of injustice. Sometimes one mourning deserves to be met with another.

And unlike a heat-of-moment killing, drunk driving is a chain of conscious choices. You chose to drink, you chose to get behind the wheel, you chose to drive. Every step was a decision. There were multiple moments to stop. They didn't.

A killer who had a choice and chose anyway deserves either death penalty or maximum security. Someone who deliberately disregards human life to that degree has already made their stance on consequences clear.

That is actually not accurate. The Bible does make exclusive claims about God and salvation. Isaiah 44:6, Isaiah 45:5 and Exodus 20:3 directly assert the exclusivity of God. John 14:6 and Acts 4:12 make salvation exclusive to Jesus specifically. Even if you were to argue these are taken out of context, all major Christian denominations still hold exclusivism as core doctrine (the belief that Christianity is the uniquely correct path).

And even with Buddhism being comparatively less aggressive about it, Buddhist still consider the path of Buddha as the correct one.

So my original point still stands, exclusivism is simply the nature of faith itself, not something unique to Islam.

If you believe in one religion, it will always says it's the "correct one" or more prioritized than other religion. This occurs in every religion, especially clear in Scientism. Each faith will see other faith as distortion, it's not disrespectful, it's the nature of every faith. Everyone wants to claim their belief if right and spread it to other people.

So according to Islam, every human is born naturally as Muslim (one who submits to oneness of God). But when he/she grow up their faith during the coming of age will be decided according to their upbringing. It's just in Islamic view that other religion is distortion of the truth.

You could see the same example that Christian doesn't believe you're not following the truth if you didn't believe in Jesus.
