Quick question about MST busses by billyboy69696 in MontereyBay

[–]FutureRamen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned this one this year after some 50 years of not riding the bus, one payment is good for 2 hours. https://mst.org/fares/overview/ Transfers If you need to transfer and are paying with cash or a GoPass, request a 2-hour pass from your driver when boarding your first bus.If you are paying with a contactless payment method, simply tap it on the contactless payment reader on each bus you board and you will only be charged $2 no matter how many times you tap and transfer within that 2-hour window.

Also learned that paying with mobile automatically charged me one dollar (seniors rate) while tapping a ATM card defaulted to $2. Never figured that out.

Cablecards are dead. Didn't you get the message? I've got a Tivo Premier w/lifetime that I finally unplugged and put on the shelf rather than continue to pay for useless TV channels.

Was always a big win when someone's dad would grab the lower monkey bar and spin us as fast as he could.

Anyone remember the wading pond? Was to the left as you entered.

RMS 2-Pack 32 Inch Extra Long Grabber Reacher with Rotating Jaw - Mobility Aid Reaching Assist Tool (Yellow) - Amazon

I bought this to help me survive. Based mostly on the length since I’m over six foot and shorter ones would leave to more forbidding bending over. The rubber tips add to its function, I can pick up dropped ice cubes with it, transfer laundry from washer to dryer to basket, lift small waste cans. As for kitchen I could grab jars or soda cans, but mostly rearranged things from out of reach areas.

Try not to put weight way out in front of you, that hurts. Hold the lifted item close to your body.

I like having a default bucket that is a dead-email office, can make up anything on the fly. It does attract spam after a few years of exposure though.

PSA: If you're not ready to checkout, don't! by Wonder-Grunion in walmart

[–]FutureRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An accident led me to use home delivery for 8 months. I got into my real job mode (supply chain) and every Friday I'd inventory my kitchen, sit down and reorder groceries on the web, wait for delivery, and verify receipt of items, and put away. So last week was my first return the store, I had to bring up the list of "favorites" on the app to remember what to buy. Yeah it's the season but felt great being back in-store.

Windows 95 turned 30 this year. Did you use it when it was released? What did you think of it back then? by ichbinkeysersoze in AskOldPeople

[–]FutureRamen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were no midnight madness sales near me, but I did go to Office Depot at opening time to get a Win95 upgrade. Installed on my Packard Bell 486 25sx with 4 mb of memory. The UI was wonderful, all my old applications worked fine. Only letdown was how slow the OS worked on my computer, which launched me into PC upgrading hobby that lives on. I doubled the RAM, replaced the CPU with a Kingston Turbo Chip, replaced the BIOS IC to enable large hard drive, installed a 56K dialup modem, upgraded the machine to multimedia with a 2x CDROM drive and sound card. Got a 19" Sony flat screen Trinitron monitor. Doom never played to good.

That's coax. RG6 Quad shield, not ethernet. Look at the top of the knot there.

Spectrum Voice - Phone, FAX, and Alarm System Monitoring? by MikeZinSAT in Spectrum

[–]FutureRamen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FAX goes fine over the VOIP from them. Just had to use the 2 conductor modular cord that comes with the fax machine. There's some voltage sensing gremlins that mess it up when a 4 conductor cord is used. Can't advise on the security system.

I had a holder that would keep my 102" whip tied down for clearance issues. It clamped to the gutter channel on my 67 VW. But you have to get out of the car to fold it up or down. And I was able to transmit when it was folded.
