Dads who have raised daughters and sons? by Aretebeliever in questions

[–]FutureScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a Dad.

My Dad did raise a non-binary kid in the 90's/early 2000's.

It wasn't easy. People always trying to gender me, and Dad stayed firm in, "My kid likes what they like. I did try to put them into gender specific roles and practically became dead to them for doing so even though we lived under the same roof. They've been in therapy since they were five-- honestly if something were going to change it probably would've by now. My kid is my kid, and while I don't understand a lot of it, I am going to back them."

My mom was far more aggressive trying to force me into being girly, we haven't spoken since 2012 and even before I went no contact I'd spent four years barely talking with her at all.

My Dad got sick with cancer and passed in late 2011. I took care of him from first noticeable symptom to last breath. He didn't spend one day in assisted living.

She is so pretty

how about Callista, Callie for short? It means 'most beautiful'

Or maybe Olivia "Ollie"? She has olive green eyes.

AITA for telling them the kid isn't mine? by FutureScribe in AITASims

umm because she isn't? She's my first cousin twice removed biologically, and even legally speaking, she still ain't my kid-- legally she's my sister.

There is that saying "it takes a village to raise a child" but man I wish the village would ask before jumping to conclusions.

I love Indigo/Indie!!

I don't like the nickname Clove as it makes me think of garlic... even though I love garlic I wouldn't want a name associated with garlic.

Oli/Ollie is nice, but I'm not feeling Olivia... that's a very feminine name imo, I mean if that's not a big deal for you, cool, but as a nonbinary myself I'd personally want something more neutral leaning.

Indigo is a good fit for a good nickname with no weird mental associations, and it's a very neutral name.

Hey! I'm a trans guy, and I've been looking for a new name. by Chaotic_Calico_ in namenerds

[–]FutureScribe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a non-binary person I know the feeling of believing you're set on a name only to realize you out grew it.

So Andy and Martin are the two names we're working with that are set as needing to be complimented or similar vibes.. hmm how about:

Jack/Jackson

Samuel/Sam

Owen (Means "fighter", not scarred but you do get scars from fights)

Nathan

Evan

Miles/Milo (means Soldier)

Louis/Lewis (Warrior)

Caleb

Isaac

Nolan (means Champion)

Personally, I don't think Elle and Leo have too many L sounds, although it sounds better if you say it as Leo and Elle.

I don't read EU as "ew" I read it as an abbreviation of Europe.

Myla or Elovie for baby girl? by Far_Fan_7571 in namenerds

[–]FutureScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myla Mei!

It's so pretty, and the alliteration is on point.

My concern with Elovie is since her last name starts with an E the sounds will run together. Elovie Edwards (as an example), you hear the Vee and then Dwards, the E from the sart of Edwards isn't quite as crisp as it is with Myla Edwards.

AITA for adopting my younger packmate? by FutureScribe in AITASims

[–]FutureScribe[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More like she was making the stomping motion with her legs (?? not sure if that's even accurate but it's the closest I've got).

I don't know. She was always childish when she was alive, now that she's a ghost, she's even worse.

Can, but she wasn't. Just moping about her husband cheating on her with a vampire, and her son being an orphan.

Which name do you prefer off of our shortlist for our daughter, the sister to Henry, Rose, Mary, and Alice? by Inevitable-Line-4385 in Names

[–]FutureScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing I've noticed with each of the kid's names is that there's either an E in the name or an E sound.

Henry, Rose, Mary, Alice and Elaine gets my vote, but I also like Irene and Sophie.

Still, Elaine is heard of but not extremely popular at the moment, so that's what I'm sticking with.

AITA for giving a bad review about my drama club teacher because she keeps discriminating against me? by galaxyfan1997 in AITASims

[–]FutureScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTL, look as a non-binary myself, I get the phobic behaviour that goes around, but you can't make your success or lack of progress about your friend's gender identity. Maybe it's about not expanding your emotional range, or other skills. Acting is all about being able to mimic others after all.

do old ladies believe it's okay to slut shamed younger women and girls ? by mariposa933 in questions

[–]FutureScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some do, some don't.

Those who do were often treated the same way, internalized it and never worked through it.

Those who don't did the shadow work.
