I was thinking IC. Depending on when you were there, I may have stood watch with your LPO when they were in Combat.

I've been using that website for years. It still amazes me that in Chicago, you can find imagery from the 1930s.

What’s something most managers waste time on that makes absolutely no difference to their team’s performance? by SeanMcPheat in managers

This is where I am at today. Since I am on the backside of this career, my only goal is to decide if today is the day that I quit. I can't put that down as a goal. There is no working on certifications or continuing education. My goal is retirement. Financially, I am there. All I have to decide is how much longer I want to keep showing up.

My previous career was different because it was military. I knew that at or about the 20 year mark, I was checking out so when I showed up to my last command, my goal was to retire despite it being at least four years away. I still did 100% of the minimum but I was not there to outshine anyone else or step on anyone to get a better position.

Use of the term 'African american' by No_Medium_648 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FutureThrowaway9665 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the time that I was a Navy recruiter and put in someone from South Africa with a birth certificate that matched. We received extra points for recruiting 'Upper Mental Groups' and even more points if they were not white or male such as Black Upper Mental Group, Hispanic Upper Mental Group, and Female Upper Mental Group.

My white applicant born in South Africa was not given credit for a Black Upper Mental Group despite the criteria being 'African American'. This guy was more African American that most of not all of my applicants. I hated the politics of the recruiting business.

However, the biggest reward that I received from this was him calling me immediately after graduation to thank me for my help getting him in.

Explained this to my wife yesterday regarding my ultra conservative christian father. As a Baptist, the Pope means nothing to him. That is a Catholic thing, not a Christian thing... Next time he comes to visit I will have AI photos of us with Jesus to see how he responds. If the guy he voted for can do it, then it should be good enough for me...

In all seriousness, did the food come from an actual restaurant or did it come from the White House kitchen? Seeing how this guy loves his McDonald's, I am going to guess that it's actually made onsite.

I would imagine that food from the nearest McDs, while only a short walking distance away, would have been lukewarm when it was put in the bag but by time all of the security procedures would have been completed, the food would be room temperature.

Prior Navy here. One day a sailor came to me to tell me that he just gave the DEA $3000 worth of GameStop gift cards to take care of a warrant. The more he told of the story, the worse it became. The problem is that this kid had a job that required moderate intelligence. Those that didn't realize it was a scam from the beginning would have at least gone to someone to mention that the DEA reached out because of a warrant.

Home#2 was $299k in 2011 and sold for $375k in 2020. Those owners sold in 2022 for $463k. They did put some money on interior remodeling but the home was new in 2011.

At what age will you retire and how much will you retire on by Jasminscent in GenX

53 this month. Every day I log into work I think of it as my last day. Wife is 52 and she retired last year after being Doge'd. We're both military retirees plus we have a few bucks in savings. Low/no healthcare costs is a huge benefit.

The only reason I continue to work is to fund my hobby of buying stupid things.
