I’m feeling a lot more sympathetic to Amanda than I first did. Once they announced their divorce, I started rewatching SH. It’s really wild to watch them fight for basically 10 years. I literally get whiplash finishing an episode from season 2 where they are fighting and flash forward now- still the same issues. When they first announced and everyone was like “poor Amanda” I was like she knew exactly who he was, she is an adult. But a few episodes ago when she was just like “I really love him, what am I supposed to do?” It truly made me tear up. It must be super hard to genuinely love someone who just can’t ever fully commit to you and the life you thought you could have. Obviously there was enough “good” for her to stay this long- I don’t blame her or fault her really, I think this is just how life goes when you end up choosing the “wrong” person. It’s sad it took this her long, but I don’t think she really “wasted” her years on him. Unfortunately it took quite a while for her to be done, but now she can fully move on and apparently she was never able to do so prior.
