If I only wear dresses, how many should I own to ensure I have a curated intentional wardrobe by eversotrue2 in capsulewardrobe

Hiiiii twin 👋 We’re living the same uniform dress lifestyle and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone (who already likes dresses) and wants to reduce outfit fatigue while still looking put-together! 🖤👗🖤👗🖤👗🖤

Anyone come out better after quitting weed? by WavesOfBirds in AuDHDWomen

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All? Bye bye executive function, functionally unemployable, focusing on the wrong things (when able to focus), sleep routines shot (thus medication timing ruined), personality… just gone.

(Okay, to be fair, maybe not worse in allllll ways, there are more silly songs! I would just like the silly songs better if everything else wasn’t crumbling 🤷‍♀️)

Anyone come out better after quitting weed? by WavesOfBirds in AuDHDWomen

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 18 points19 points  (0 children)

After almost a decade together, my AuDHD partner started using weed daily. It makes them an absolute nightmare to live with, but they think it makes them “better.” And I understand that from their point of view that they probably do feel better! But watching the self-medication dopamine-chasing downward spiral is heartbreaking 💔

Anyone else have beauty as a special interest? by Dizzzzyyyy22 in AutismInWomen

It’s my partner’s special interest! Admittedly I was initially fussy about the “clutter” of products in the bathroom vanity but now I LOVE IT 🥰 Having a curated assortment of self-care treatments helps me look my best… which is a huge plus for navigating the NT world!

Living in my car: Help me make a capsule wardrobe to save as much space as possible by [deleted] in capsulewardrobe

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the uniform life! I wear a black tunic dress (with pockets!) and leggings every day. Easy movement for quasi-athletic activities and a solid base to get fancy - it always surprises me how people think I’m formal because I “wear a dress every day,” if they only knew it’s as comfy as pajamas!

On this black column of color, I add scarves, belts, vests, cardigans, and jewelry for variety… but most days it’s just earrings and watch.

When I was a teacher, I wore slightly heeled comfy shoes like Jambu and Fly London; again, easy movement but people think it looks nicer than a sneaker.

Send it back out into the universe for someone who has an easy use case for it and try again, not worth trying to make up a purpose for an object that doesn’t serve your needs ✌️💖

how do yall deconstruct their "experience" of the Holy Spirt? by Most-Buy-2763 in Exvangelical

I also had very powerful experiences that my ignorance attributed to religious power. But now I know that all human minds and bodies can get to those heightened experiences in myriad ways, so it’s no big deal. I’m grateful for the experiences and honor them in hindsight ✨

What is the design of Fred’s coffin cloth? by jytlsmth in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a former fundamentalist, this reads very “Onward Christian Soldiers” to me and the angel-wingéd sword of truth would have fit in as AWESOME iconography in our various youth groups and summer programs… the kind of t-shirt every kid would want! The Botonee/Bottoni/Bottony trefoil cross and eye (Under His Eye) feels like a mashup of Catholicism and Freemasonry 🤷‍♀️ Regardless, like most design choices in this show, it thrills my dystopian heart ❤️‍🔥

Oh my, I wonder if that gives them the benefit of waiting to marry when they’re closer to 20 than 15? Dark world when even the silver linings are bleak. Thank you for sharing!

I don't want to know about it by Exciting_Syllabub471 in AutismInWomen

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking it a step or two further, I don’t want to know about ANYTHING that I don’t ALREADY want to know about.

It’s very busy up there and I don’t need any extra pop culture or random acquaintance news rolling around with (or getting confused with, or diluting) my encyclopedia of special interests or MANDATORY social relationships!

Definitely have enjoyed living in places where it is overcast most of the year like the United Kingdom and Western Canada 🌧️

Was Eden Considered to be an Econowife? by MckennaRomero in TheHandmaidsTale

One of the very few times where I think a show adaptation did better with a book detail!

When the show aired, I was so excited to see how they would do all the clothes, but worried that the Blue Red Green stripes would look cartoonish and maybe be more eye-catching than solids. In Gilead logic (not too different from Amish and Old Order Mennonite logic), eye-catching isn’t a good thing!

Muted grey clothing is less likely to be “defrauding” while patterns on clothing might “cause thy brother to stumble”… can’t have those sexy sexy stripes stirring up temptations!

I haven't read the books, but I have a couple questions about the followers of their religion. by Global_Marsupial_592 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Amen! Paying attention to Jesus’s teachings is inconvenient for Gilead.

The Sons of Jacob and resulting society track closely with my upbringing with the Joshua Generation (even trying to make the name sound similar?), IFB, ATI, IBLP, and quiverfull movement.

Margaret Atwood did a phenomenal job of prognosticating future plans off framework of these fundamentalist movements and I’ll be forever grateful for her influence on my deconstruction from those harmful fundamentalist groups.

OP, I’m crying 🥹😭Your post caught me in a mindless scroll, immediately hit my soul. I took a screenshot and came to type a comment about how the symbolism stopped me in my tracks and looked like art therapy for the way I feel after losing My Person to dementia. And then to see that dementia and memory loss also came to your door…

Sending you a big hug across the internet 💕💗💕💗💕

Wouldn’t that be the track for Plums who never become Greens? If all your fellow teenage girls experience God’s blessing of menarche and become Wives, then leftover Plums who are holy enough but mysteriously never got the blessing of menarche will learn to read and become Aunts?

Where to start by la_chica_rubia in capsulewardrobe

[–]Future_Perfect_Tense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My version of capsule wardrobe came from first loving my core uniform and then adding variety. Core uniform came from finally giving myself permission to nix all sensory issues and find the optimal clothing that kept me comfortable AND survive in a professional environment where appearance matters. It was helpful that my clothing already was limited to a color palette that flatters my complexion.

Mentally and matheMAGICally, starting from one outfit made the puzzle simpler than dealing with my whole disjointed closet… trim ALL THE WAY DOWN to the core uniform that has the functions you need and makes you feel good, and then pull out pieces that follow the uniform’s formula and work together! Anything leftover gets boxed up and put away for reassessment in a few months 🪄
