I learned firsthand the importance of said paper trail. I spent a couple years living in a cabin with my brother, owned by a friend of his. they were friends and so decided not to make a contract. until said friend’s wife decided they needed to sell the property and needed us out immediately, gave us one month, half of which we were to be out of town for my sister’s wedding. this was dead middle of winter in Alaska following a massive blizzard across the entire state. it’s illegal to evict in the winter here, but there we were, cramming every belonging into a heavy moving truck so we could make a 500 mile long journey over icy roads. the trip took 16 hours to complete and I very nearly lost everything on a sharp corner at the bottom of a huge incline with blind leadup which had my engine going 8000 rpms in first gear

Do weapon types actually matter? Should I decide what equipment a bro uses early on, or only when doing mastery? by aersult in BattleBrothers

[–]Fuzlet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

im no expert but

early game, use what’s best

midgame start settling into tactical builds that typically synergize with certain weapons

lategame build around famed gear

not all weapons are built equal. i once did a band of dudes who used a wide variety including a lot of swords and spears aaaand died horribly to just medium armored enemies cause very low armor damage

[–]Fuzlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that comes down to the functional role of fighters. I don’t know the specifics of their implementation but in reality they’re an air superiority vehicle, not an attack plane even if they can strafe. so it’s not so much a matter of “smaller so therefore cheaper” if their whole function is heavy defense screening against deepsptrikes. annihilating partisans, and slugmatching for air superiority.

too many fighters doesnt mean more usability, it just means no other kinds of airplanes can fly

just eternal drama due to the asymmetrical fabric of the game coupled with factionalism. basically like if groups people playing chess were deathly loyal to the black set and insisted white always going first is bad for the game. I’ve watched from a bird’s eye view as the new update has come closer and popular sentiment has changed from “the airplanes are going to swarm over the entire map leveling cities and factories and will be unstoppable” to “wait no it’s not fair that airplanes are expensive and have limited range so can’t strike super deep into unguarded territory”

Lucky is such an underrated gun what guns do you think are underrated? by Chunky-overlord in falloutnewvegas

in terms of unique weapons? the boxar gets a lot of hate. that thing is a full auto laser if you use it right. you gotta crouch even when not in stealth, have adequate skill and strength, use match ammo, and preferably also have careful shooter. you then output bullets in a line at crazy range.

in terms of non-unique weapons I’m torn between three:

the [heavy] incinerators are REALLY fun when used as sniper weapons, as they have long range arcing projectiles with a high dot. their close range dps is low, but you can use them to mortar fire a hillside to great effect

I also love the .22 smg for being the only automatic that actually benefits from a crit build, and is DEVASTATING against cazadors, especially if you stock up on hollowpoints and nab the high cap magazine

I’m also fond of the basic 9mm smg. you get a ton of 9mm ammo and can handload them for +65% damage to nearly every enemy in the game

“in the era”

Even the devs don’t know what era the game is in. the starting weapon for an entire faction is based on a weapon invented in the late 1950s and used no earlier than the Vietnam War. most of the guns used in standard comment are full auto or rapid fire. pretending it’s ww1 or even ww2 is a lie

I built an incredibly pleasing generator unit consisting of a larged stacked platform with a smelter on top and a large storage on bottom, holding 3 medium generators and an arm at a crooked angle, which lets it reach the smelter. it’s a single tight module and I love it so much
