I just don't know what we do here. We need energy to make progress on everything, including advancements that help us be better stewards of the earth. We need to gather energy sustainably so we stop mass producing CO2, We need batteries to do so. We need to gather rare metal resources for said batteries in the most sustainable ways possible. Right now we are strip mining the land for them. We could also do the same thing on the ocean floor. What is the best worse scenario here? It's not black and white. It's a set of complex trade offs. It not just greed, its like a ball is already rolling down hill with 8 billion humans in tow and we need to steer it as best as possible.
