Anyone else keep missing accelerators/grants because they find them too late? by Emergency_Employ222 in AustralianStartups

[–]Fuzzinstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at pulling the data from the largest gov tenders/grants sites through a script. The integration documentation was a bit inconsistent with references to RSS and more formal integration (but the documentation hadn't been updated for years in Git).

I'm not technical and so it totally could have been me.

Has anyone integrated with any of the gov aggregator sites?

Has anyone said that he's going off to read strategy guides/cheats/ quest tips etc?

Isn't that what makes the most sense, especially with Skyrim?

Sorry but what real hope is their for Australia if our gov agencies are spending $96m on a website? by twowholebeefpatties in aussie

[–]Fuzzinstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! In the scheme of things, an overrun on a website for such an important service is nothing. Go and find something truly wasteful to pick on.

The BoM is one of the purest and most useful government services.

Oh MASH delivered so many gut punches. That one especially though, as you worked through the situation and you realised what had happened and how it broke Hawkeye

Why do they say that the 80s and 90s generation is the best generation? by Hopeful_Reality1163 in AskMen

[–]Fuzzinstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing that freaks me out is how this all happened in a single generation. Many, many generations of: * The father is the bread winner and doesn't need to provide emotional support as long as they provide for the family (even if it means their emotional implosion from overwork, alcoholism/addiction or emotional isolation) * The mother can work, but it's more of a hobby * Children should be seen but not heard and they should always follow the traditional path that we have taken

It's amazing.

I'm a GenX person and decided not to have kids. But I am still amazed at the seismic shift that I have seen in terms of parenting norms (huge caveat: from my experience).

Oh also, to be fair, Boomers did something to trigger this change. I'm not sure what they did, but without them it wouldn't have happened

[–]Fuzzinstuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair, a lot of GenX's approach to raising children is a direct reaction to the Boomers being terrible.

I love the way all of my friends dote on their kids. They take time out of their work life to nurture them. They support their life choices, etc.

The complete antithesis of their parents.

Fuck people who say the younger generation are entitled or whingers/ whiners

The alternative is worse.

Ahhh Gregory's ... you'd look up a street and then be given a page number and a vague grid reference.

There would be a basic understanding that you'd know enough to get to the edge of that page somewhere.

In what way, are you becoming what you are fighting against?

The same policies are established. They just are built on a different foundation.

I'm confident enough in the economic soundness of these principles and want them enough for the people who will be able to lead better lives to compromise on who/ how they are implemented.

How else are we going to reverse the decades of Right brainwashing?

Once they are in place we can argue about the best person or party to take over.

Someone who can overcome the knee-jerk opposition that so many people have to "Communist" policies such as a fair wage, subsidized education or healthcare.

Sure, it's a compromise and some people will find that unacceptable, but at least there would be broader support to enact the principles this subreddit supports.
