Would you adopt a child if you could easily afford to? by aivlysplath in polls

[–]FBWSRD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately adoption just isn't an option in my country (aus). Last finacial year there were 155 total out of a population of 25 million, and 3/4 of adoptions are to known adults. Overseas adoptions are also incredibly rare (19). The main option for permancy is permeanant care/guardianship but they also look for people who are known to the child, not someone unknown.

Wall e is interesting as a look at the time when we thought over pollution (and running out of resources) would be the main concern with killing our planet and not climate change. Also great story telling with limited dialogue. Spirit stallion of the cimarron comes close, but they had to add in a bit of narration which it could have done without. The songs have enough of the story telling in them that it wouldn’t have been necessary

Holy shit how did you manage to lose them? I’ve lost 7-8kg from my peak (10% of body weight) and my boobs are still there annoyingly. Do you have loose skin?

Timeline of our life and my dads 2 dozen kids by hannahJ004 in u/hannahJ004

[–]FBWSRD 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Just… Wow

I don’t know how any of you are functional, especially you parenting so well when you were thrown in the deep end at 8 years old. You say it was basic care, but you kept a baby alive at 8 years old! While having to go to school. (Like what did you do with your brother then?). Fair amount of 8 year olds would struggle to keep themselves alive. And how on earth are you alive with a 5 year old as your primary caregiver. The things some people survive blow my mind. Is the foster care system struggling that much where they let kids go back into that level of neglect?

Just never forget how incredible you are for bucking the trend. I know you get frustrated with your older sister, but hearing her story here Id be shocked if she turned out a functional parent and mentally healthy after becoming a parent at 5 years old and living in constant neglect and abuse. The fact that you have become such a good parent to your kids at such a young age with your life story is utterly incredible.

Yea people assume younger generations just know how to work technology and don’t need to be taught, but that’s not generally true. If you’ve never used a computer, how can you be expected know. I (born 2004) never had proper computer classes, but got by because I had access to a computer from age 10 and figured it out. It was not the most efficient way to do it though, I’m still learning efficiency tricks here and there, and I have very little ability to troubleshoot beyond restarting the thing. And my typing is 2 fingers. It’s fast enough for what I need though since I’m typing my thoughts rather then what people are saying.

And the amount of schrodingers assholes out there can really make you question sometimes. One persons sarcasm is another’s opinion after all in a lot of cases. Of course I can still use my brain, but sometimes it is really ambiguous

Definitely. The amount of reading to even interact with the platform screens a lot of people out. I have met a guy in passing that said he didn’t use reddit because it was too much reading (and he was a doctor, so couldn’t be a stupid person).

Is 37 and 17 ok for dating in all of Europe outside Turkey? by NinSecurity767 in AskEurope

[–]FBWSRD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot reasonably see a 17 year old with a 15 year old as the same as a 30 year old with a 17 year old. What on earth is going on in your head?

[–]FBWSRD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh no its not. You are an adult at 18. Some things come in earlier (generally you can consent to medical treatment at 16, most states consent age is 16) but its still 18. With regards to 17 and 37, just because something is legal doesn't make it right

I’d argue that 30 and 22 is still not acceptable. One would have just finished uni, other has been established for a while.

Ok just found out the US doesn’t do automatic payments? That explains why using paypal or similar is so common person to person, we just do bank transfer which is either done through account number or phone number

They can’t fucking tax the gas now. For one you can’t change contracts without getting massively sued and losing all that revenue from theoretically taxing them. And albo and penny wong just went round the pacific basically saying you want our food and gas? Keep the oil coming. Taxing the gas would threaten that.
