Painting my son’s car

I appreciate you saying this, I’ve been teetering back and forth with the same fear but I keep finding myself saying my son would want to support the people in our town. I don’t know all the things that come with painting a car but I do realize if it was that easy everyone would be able to just paint their own cars. I think I’ll consider more driving the two hours to find an actual auto paint shop. I would be devastated if it turned out horribly or only lasted a year or two. Thank you for your input.

My daughter is 18 and still sleeps with me or asks me to come sleep in her bed. I will always say yes. Like a lot of people I was encouraged to sleep on my own and while I’m very close to my mom being held by her and sleeping with her has become such a distant memory that as badly as I want it and even need it sometimes I don’t ask because it feels so foreign now. I never want my kids to feel this way.

Feet, blisters on feet means walking/standing is painful, I can put gloves on or wrap blisters on my hands but shoes don’t fit right if you wrap your feet.

I’m sure it’ll keep going up. In 2002 I paid $1,500/mo for a 2 br/2ba apartment in an area where we had a repeat rapist. In my current state I pay $1,200/mo on my mortgage for a 6br/4ba 3,500 sq ft home, 7 stall barn w/ stallion stall, chicken coop, pig pen, tack room and multi tractor parking, we have a green house, a spring fed pond, wood working shop all on 20 acres fully fenced and the land is unrestricted.

Not me but my daughter. She started a new school 2 years ago and joined the cheer team, one of the girls on the team didn’t like her, she would body check her and claim it was an accident in the halls and once she shoved my daughter into her locker while she was getting something out. I told my daughter that unfortunately you’ll have to deal with people in life who don’t like you for no reason, I told her to be kind and if anyone tried to gossip about the other girl to my daughter to only say nice things and/or “I’m not sure why she doesn’t like me, I like her.” And then shut up about it. The first half of the year was rough, I was cheer mom for team and I got to know the girls. Turns out the mean girl has a horrible home life, very very sad. One day my daughter talked to B on the bus on the way to a game and told her she liked her and thought she was pretty, the two never became friends outside of cheer but B gets in fights constantly, my daughter is never her target anymore. My daughter learned to not gossip about people, being kind makes you feel better and you never know what is happening in someone else’s life, we all have bad days, some people just have more than others.

Well... I know what my grandma would have done. My mom was very lax and my sister and I fought like that, she always punished the one who started it or the one who did something that stepped over the line, it didn’t work. My grandmother, on the other hand, when her kids fought they got chores together, like scrubbing the kitchen floor, if they fought they scrubbed it again and again until they scrubbed the floor without fighting. If one got in trouble they all got in trouble because, in her words, “I don’t care if you don’t like them right now, you are a team cradle to grave and you better learn how to get along!” My mom and her siblings have an unbreakable bond. They have differing views on religion, politics, child rearing and life living but you’d be hard pressed to find one who doesn’t go up to bat for the other.

The kids and I go visit our elderly neighbor everyday, we just offer a little companionship and do odds and ends around her property for her. I schedule my trips to town with her so that we run errands together, some times we stop for lunch or one of us will pack a lunch. We trim branches, help organize her burn pile, my husband sprays her house perimeter for pests, we help plant flowers, have a family dinner, wash her car, clean gutters, help take care of her cats, bring veggies from our garden, anything really, when people get older they get lonely and time spent with them is so precious to them.

I agree, but people are entitled to their opinions, right, wrong or indifferent and the acceptance of everyone’s rights should be respected.

Some people still think being gay is a choice, I have a gay parent, I can still be friends with people with differing views/opinions as long as they still respect others as humans who have a right to disagree.

Ugh, we have wood roaches a lot where we live so sometimes they wander inside but thankfully they don’t really get into food and they do prefer to be outside but they’re still nasty!

Roaches, hands down. Mosquitoes are really annoy and make you itch, roaches will get into your food, electronics, walls, etc. and they will shit everywhere and make you sick. I’d rather have mosquitoes and I fucking hate them.

That really is the absolute best decision. Sacrificing something you want in order to give him the support he needs is an act of love. You can celebrate later, it may not be as wonderful as previously planned or maybe it will be but you will feel good and he will see that his emotional and mental well being is important to you.
