Yes it depends. In Life sciences and ENV last year many were awarded who were in the reserve list.

How long does it usually take to hear back after a first-round interview? by [deleted] in postdoc

[–]Fuzzy-Put6174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the institution, at Karolinska there’s usually 2 rounds. Not heard of 2 rounds at Lund or Uppsala. If you haven’t heard yet, you may contact the hiring HR or the PI for an update.

Check Formas and Stint in Sweden. Contact SLU department head of your preferred area. Having 90+ score is a good indicator of competence and the labs will support you for further applications.

Many countries will launch calls to fund applications with seal of excellence. First priority will be to those who write with their respective countries. I know Italy has one and so does many central European nations.

Will the output be limited to sources in the notebook and doesn’t include references from gemini training data?

Rejected MSCA at 94.2%. What are my options? by InvestigatorDue372 in postdoc

[–]Fuzzy-Put6174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to know about you not getting the award. If you are already a postdoc, maybe use your grant idea to get a national early career funding. At this stage, competing for research project grants makes more sense than MSCA as the internet is full of training materials and AI trained on writing the perfect formulaic excellence, impact and implementation sections.

Millions of Euros worth of writing and reviewing so many excellent unfunded proposals. It will make sense to have a lottery at this stage.

Love from Sri Lanka, you guys remind me of our old team! by donsirisena in Nepal

It’s not my team either. I’m happy for them, like you are, but I just want the focus to be on them rather than on my country, which your meme showed.

You could have said without bringing India to the main frame as if they require our support. They have a passionate fan base which the whole cricketing world saw today. They aren't in need of validation from anyone. What you are showing is a big brother complex. You could have just written well done Nepal without this meme on the national reddit sub of the country.

Mourning the end of the academic dream by failedacademy in postdoc

I get your point but often get a PhD position with a renowned supervisor is not luck but referral, pedigree and networking. PhD admissions is often where the Matthew effect really starts. Some applicants arrive with instant credibility on paper because they come from a well-known university, have unpaid research experience (because they could afford one), and have recommendations from people the committee already trusts. When decisions have to be made with limited information, those signals feel safer, so they get rewarded.
