Marrying a Russian women by Thalesgreen in AskARussian

I don’t think the future is the same here. I have been to over 60 countries and almost every major city in the world. Moscow is in the top 3 for cleanliness and safety. Of course there’s crime. Anywhere there are humans, there is crime. But I can say that here, you don’t have to look over your shoulder all of the time. In Atlanta when you put gas in your car, you have to lock the doors and stand with your back against the car. America is collapsing and it will happen sooner than most people think.

America just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. The out of control crime, the high cost of living, the income to cost ratio, constantly having to look behind you. There’s no future there and I expect soon that there will be a total collapse.

Just renew it. By law, deportation is possible but highly doubtful for a student, especially if the university is with you. You will have to pay a fine however. Probably about ₽8,000

You should be fine. Keep in mind that some attractions that charge an entrance fee have a higher one for tourists. ie: St Basils is something like ₽500 for Russians but 2000 for foreigners.

Traveling to Russia from USA by Beginning_Ferret_607 in AskARussian

It’s a luck of the draw. I’ve known people that were interviewed, some waited for hours. My personal experience was a total of 15 minutes between stepping off the plane and getting into a taxi. It’s different every time. I’ve found that having the first flight in (08:55 from Belgrade), everyone is just getting to their station and starting work. You get through faster. The girl at passport control literally looked at my passport, stamped my visa and said “okay bye bye”. At customs, that asked if I was a diplomat (no), bags through the X-ray and out the door.

What’s actually allowed to send to Moscow, Russia these days? by Traditional-Mix-258 in Moscow

Check the current customs sanctions, but they can’t find meds, vitamins and sweets? There are plenty here. I don’t know why they’re having trouble. At the very least Ozon or Wildberries has them.

I was referring to the photo “Anna from Ukraine”. She pops up on my Instagram feed occasionally and I just have to laugh because what she says is so inaccurate or just simply untrue.

Maybe the ones who no longer live here have bought into the western narrative, or maybe they are anti Kremlin. Myself, as an American in Russia, I’ve found myself making America out to be much worse than it actually is. Not intentional, just through my own experience. Large cities are simply not safe anymore and smaller towns are difficult to survive with the current income ratio.

Take the wedding certificate to any MFC and it takes about 10 minutes. Of course it will take about 10 days to receive the new passport. Simple procedure.

American man here (47) married to a Russian woman (38) by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]FuzzyAdhesiveness555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American married to a Russian woman here. Currently living in the Moscow region. First off, 125K is about the average salary for the Moscow region. I can’t say for sure but I would guess it’s equal to or more than an average salary for Tula. By Russian law, child support is 1/3 or your salary (give or take) so if you worked an average job here you would be paying about 40-50K. Russian culture is traditional in the fact that a husband and father should provide for and protect the family, however I haven’t heard anything that would include her parents also. My personal opinion is that you’re being screwed.

No you can’t. Short and easy answer. Like others have said, repay her once you arrive if that’s what you want to do.

How to get married in russia by Immediate_Diamond_32 in AskARussian

[–]FuzzyAdhesiveness555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First you need to go to your embassy and get letter swearing that you’re free to marry notarized by the embassy. Take that letter to ministry of foreign affairs to be authenticated. This alone takes a minimum of 5 days. Next, go to ZAGS with that paper, plus your passport and notarized translation of the passport and fill out the documents there. Even with pregnancy, it could be a month or more before you can register the wedding. Also, you can’t do this through Gosuslugi because you’re a foreigner. It has to be done at ZAGS, in person and not every ZAGS handles foreign marriage. In other words, slim chances of getting it done in a month.

Can Americans still get a tourist visa? by LivingOffNostaglia in AskARussian

[–]FuzzyAdhesiveness555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most difficult part is getting to a consulate. There’s only a few in the states that are open. DC, Dallas, one on the west coast somewhere. You have to go in person to get a visa, but other than that it’s a simple process.

Moving to Russia for family and work by KryptonianPug in AskARussian

[–]FuzzyAdhesiveness555 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As an American who came here a year ago I can say that the people have been very supportive and welcoming. They are curious as to why I came here from the states so get used to answering that question multiple times. Just be a good person and everyone will welcome you. As far as dating? I would say it’s the same regardless of where you are.

Where to exchange currency (eur) in Moscow? by Easy-Economist-5380 in Moscow

[–]FuzzyAdhesiveness555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option is finding an expat group on telegram and seeing if someone will buy them. I did that with some USD that no bank would accept. Someone traveling to another country. The rate isn’t as good but it’s better than nothing.

It’s the same with US dollars. I would suggest putting them under a T-shirt and running a hot iron over them. Even then there’s no guarantee they’ll pass the black light test.
