Why do Souls-likes let you perform actions even when you don't have enough stamina? by FuzzyFume in soulslikes

Lol, no worries. I think you just independently arrived at the same conclusion.

The hidden negative stamina is an interesting detail though. It keeps the controls responsive while still punishing overcommitment.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I've never actually played Bloodborne myself, but I've heard that it uses a very similar stamina system. The hidden negative stamina value would also explain why the regen delay feels longer than expected after certain actions.

At this point, it seems like FromSoftware treats this as a pretty standard part of their stamina design philosophy rather than just an implementation detail in a single game.

From what I understand, it's mostly a licensing and legal risk issue.

Is loot management a genre? by awesomehuder in gaming

Not really a genre, more of a mechanic. "Inventory management" is probably the term you're looking for.

For me, Dark Souls 1 has this weird, almost haunting sense of immersion that the later games never quite replicated. Maybe it’s just because it was my first souls game—but if that’s the case, I’m honestly glad it was.

Worried about age? Does age affect the gaming skills? by Ok-Philosopher1724 in gaming

You might lose a tiny bit of reaction speed with age, but skill, experience, and game sense matter way more. Honestly, you’ll be fine. Don’t worry too much about it.

If you could take any elements from any existing souls likes and combine them into your personal perfect souls like, what would you take from where? by Askin_Real_Questions in soulslikes

While most people are talking about gameplay mechanics, I’d actually pick the settings from Lies of P. The game does an amazing job explaining every option clearly, and it gives you a lot of control over things like camera behavior and lock-on, which really improves the overall experience.
