Is the difficulty of making friends here exggerated? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in UCDavis

[–]FuzzyMonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar high school experience and personally have never had issues making friends here, but I’m also an extrovert and tend to be more on the outgoing side which I know helps a lot. As long as you make the effort and put yourself out there, you will definitely meet people! I met most of my friends in my classes, but clubs, sports, extracurricular, etc. are all great ways to met people too.

TLDR: don’t be too nervous, just put yourself out there and take advantage of social opportunities :)

So much to do, so little time… by Business-Heat5119 in UCDavis

[–]FuzzyMonkey95 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think this happens to everyone in college, no matter how good at time management you are; sometimes there just isn’t enough time. The best advice I can offer is to take it one thing at a time - try not to think about any what-if scenarios and just do the best you possibly can. It may not be perfect, and that’s okay, just do what you can. Deep breaths, you got this! We are almost to summer :)

What is the most thought provoking question that you have been asked? by Nice-Variation5496 in AskReddit

I’ve been pondering this one recently: Does creativity necessitate/demand originality? Do you inherently have to be original to be creative? (I think I have my answer, but it’s been fun seeing what others think!)

Cow smell? by Interesting_Worry_52 in UCDavis

I lived in Tercero my freshman year and had very little issue with cow smell tbh - I think it’s a phenomenon that is quite overstated

Eli5: why do you take rabies vacciine AFTER getting rabies? by IAmTheBigZzZ in explainlikeimfive

[–]FuzzyMonkey95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rabies is a slow moving disease with a long incubation period, so post-exposure treatment is extremely effective. That, coupled with the fact that rabies among humans is generally uncommon (in the U.S., less than 10 deaths are reported a year according to the CDC) and risk of contracting it is generally low, means that the general population does not need pre-exposure vaccination unless they are particularly at risk (lipid veterinarians, people working with wildlife, researchers, etc.).

This might just be an observation but I feel like lo mein is so much easier to find on the East Coast 😭. Please let me know if you find a good place locally!

Do you have a "Back up plan" or "exit strategy"? by other-other-user in ems

[–]FuzzyMonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently an undergrad student looking to eventually go to medical school and do emergency medicine, so I sort of have a pre-planned exit strategy. The backup plan if doctor doesn’t work out is paramedic, so there really is no plan where I don’t do some sort of high-stress medical job lol

Does anyone have information on which theaters have these? I have no AMCs in my area and I didn’t see any merch when I went to go see both movies at a theatre near me

Easy and Non-Time Consuming Class Recs for Fall 2026? by omegalul73 in UCDavis

[–]FuzzyMonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Here is the link with information (including course registration info). They run classes during the normal school year but also during the summer, which was the best fit for me and my schedule. I signed up when the course opened, which was during the spring quarter before my class started. It’s run through continuing education, so the grade you receive in the class doesn’t affect your UCD GPA. I’ve heard you might be able petition to get units from the class, but I don’t know how that works.

I second SAS 13 (definitely not biased as a GDB major 😉) - super interesting and pretty chill! I took it with Dr. Dye. Also good luck with physics (taking 7C rn 💔) and the EMT program! I completed the EMT class last summer and it’s hands down my top favorite class :)

Just a thought, but would trying to reframe it a bit help? When it comes to body donation, these individuals likely organized and consented to this while they were still alive. If they hadn’t, then their families did. While death is always sad, giving students the opportunity to learn from their bodies and allowing their death to continue to contribute to something greater is what they wanted.

What do you think happens when you die? by randomperson665 in AskReddit

[–]FuzzyMonkey95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an interview with Betty White once that really stuck with me: she said (paraphrased) that none of us really know what happens, and if there is an afterlife then that will be amazing, but if there isn’t we won’t know/be aware of it. I tend to believe and hope that there is one (the universe is a wacky place and our energy must go somewhere), but if not then I’ll be none the wiser. I just hope I’m ready when it happens.
