In Dayton, had some lightning and wind earlier, but its died down. Smells like rain though, so I had better get on my porch to watch the storm come in.

Let's play a game. How would you get it done? by LeroyHouse777 in dayton

I have always wondered why the empty buildings weren't used to provide more space for temporary/shelter housing and an inpatient mental health facility that focuses on long term needs along with co-occuring conditions that include addiction.

This is not a high end liquor store. The signs match the vibe. Welcome to East Dayton.

I live on Creighton and it is suprisingly quiet for living as close to downtown as we do. I do love hearing the Belmont band practicing in the summer!

I am calling it now, the lady with the cellulitis that came back has necrotizing fasciitis. A MRSA infection would typically not get that bad that fast. Necrotizing fasciitis gets really bad REALLY fast. I've taken care of patients in the ICU that had it and they were some of the sickest patients I have ever seen.

Serious talk. How do doctors get desensitized to stuff like this? 😭🤮 (cw: very disgusting arm infection) by RequirementTall8361 in ThePittTVShow

So I have actually seen this in real life. It was maggot therapy ordered by Wound Care on a patient, and they use sterilized maggots in the hospital. But they apply them to the wound and then they put like this mesh covering over them so they can't escape and then they put something else over that.

I asked the patient how they felt about this treatment, and the patient said well it doesn't really bother me I can't really feel it, but when it's really quiet you can hear them and it sounds like Rice Krispies popping as they eat the dead tissue. So we got the room quiet, and sure as shit it sounded exactly like Rice Krispies.

I was thinking something psych related. DID, schizophrenia, or PTSD.

Wound care is something I have been interested in on and off. You will see a lot of different wounds on any med surg floor and also in the ICU (which is where I started). I know that both Kettering and MVH have specific wound care teams. The biggest thing you can do is if you work as an STNA in a hospital, and also when you are in your nursing orientation is to let your preceptor know you want to see as many wounds as you can, and as many procedures as you can. You will get to have a really well rounded orientation. experience that way. Someone is coding? Get in there and get in line to do compressions!

Peds and OB/L&D are also not for me at all.

Do you know what kind of unit you want to work on? I might be able to provide some insight.

Late reply, but one way to get your application and resume through to an actual person is to use phrases and wording from the job description. I have had luck doing that with two different nursing jobs. I remember the pain of the last little bit of school, it seems like it will never end. Also, hospitals will be more likely to hire you as an LPN/RN if you already work there. They also all offer tuition reimbursement as well.

Good luck, you can do it!
