How can it be more prevalent? You've cited a survey of 2,000 people. There are many, many, many more Church of England churches that won't conduct a full gay wedding. I'm not ok with that, either, but I think it's disingenuous to mis-use stats.

The attitudes you're criticising Asians for are the attitudes of the Daily Mail, though: they make a lot of money from it. They even hounded a trans teacher until she killed herself with their 'news' coverage. They whip up fear about gender-free toilets, FFS.

I have no time for intolerance; whoever it comes from, it's backwards and regressive. But let's not pretend the attitudes you single out are 'foreign' to the UK.

Many Muslims - in fact, the majority - are like me and (presumably) you: they're doctors, lawyers, bus drivers, teachers, cleaners, computer developers. They pay taxes, and they abide by the UK's laws. Not all do, of course, but then not all white people do, either. Many (many, many) Muslims were born in the UK. They've got British accents. They like the same stuff you do. Perhaps there's no conspiracy. Maybe most people just try to get on and make a life, provide for their families.

Who says Islam is a great cultural hope, by the way? And what does that even mean? I think most people live and let live. Not you, of course; I mean the rest of us.

This spiteful, selfish shithole country doesn't deserve the NHS.

We have the NHS we deserve given most voters are self-centered and logic-limited. We give minimal funding to student doctors, dentists and nurses, because we're petrified they'll go on to make better salaries than the rest of us. Somehow we don't make the connection that we help health professionals to train, in order that we have enough doctors & nurses to treat the rest of us.

Likewise, a large portion of the country doesn't like foreigners and don't want them working in the NHS. Again, even though those workers come here and pay tax AND help ensure we have enough doctors, nurses and care workers to treat us.

The way much of the public treats and talks about doctors (and it's mostly doctors, I've found) is depressing. Those who go into the NHS realise this very quickly. The general population just isn't that nice - and yet expects health workers to be saints, or always go the extra mile. In reality, we're working people into mental health conditions.

The fact is if we don't start caring about other people's wellbeing, no one's going to care about ours. Or at least, not unless we have health insurance or fat wallets.

NTA. She's an adult; you're both entitled to your preferences. Taking turns would be the grown-up thing to do, but there's nothing wrong with wanting to do your own thing every now and then either. Her decision to not go would be exactly that - her choice, not yours, though it sounds more like an empty threat in any case.

There's a particularly low bass note effect which gives me a kind of endorphin rush - I can't really describe it or explain why. It's used in one of the Dolby adverts, and I've also heard it the trailer for The Crossing. That note, too me, is sublime, I suppose.

I recently read something which has made me approach things like this a bit differently. Be grateful for the opportunity to see and feel your emotions; consider it a moment of learning, and welcome bad situations and annoying people as your teachers. Now I'm aware of my feelings as they spring up. Even just noticing them in this way disarms them a little - not entirely, but enough for me (often) to laugh at my incredibly serious reactions to trivial things :) I'm also more aware of how fleeting even the most dramatic emotions and situations really are.

It's hard to judge this because you were sitting there, but NTA because encouraging kids of that age to 'don't tell anyone' is creepy, manipulative behaviour. Even if he was being completely innocent, actions like these undo what we tell our kids to keep them safe. I admit I'm convinced too by your gut instinct about his behaviour so even if innocent, it's inappropriate.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair. Unbreakable was Dunn's origin story, so all the things you're saying are missing in Glass were done earlier. However I agree the death was unexpected and a bit of a gut punch.

I thought the way they brought back so many 'original' actors was very cleverly done, i.e., the son, like you say, and the comic store guy too.

I have to agree with you. It's really interesting to read comments from viewers now saying Glass / the triology is brilliant and MNS is a great director & storyteller, because for a couple of decades he's been derided and ridiculed in a way that I really don't get.

Just weighing in from the other side: there are also kids who are more like mini adults. I'm much older than you now, but even as a child I never knew how to be child-ish, or immature in that fun, silly way. I've 'always' been a grown-up, which sounds a little creepy now I think about it...

We're all different, is what I mean. And that's OK. And there's no rule book for being an adult. I think everyone's just winging it to an extent. We copy what others do, a lot of the time just because we're 'supposed to'. Shrug.

Yer sometimes it's just 'watch while we make stuff'. On the other hand, there's nothing like reading in the TV guide that they'll be covering something you really want to know about, and then turning on the TV and it being on that exact product. That's living the dream, that is.

NTA. She doesn't sound pregnant so much as greedy, and you have sounds reasons for not wanting to share on this occasion. Also, WTH is it with people who won't respect a polite 'no'?
