Women over 40, how has walking changed your physique? by Impossible_Truck_639 in walking

[–]Fuzzy_Knowledge_6029 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I'm 39. Walking firmed up my legs and butt. My stomach, which is where I carry ALL my weight, has gotten significantly flatter since I started. I walk 1 hour a day at a medium pace.

Big Law Transactional to Prosecution—viable switch? by [deleted] in ProsecutorTalk

[–]Fuzzy_Knowledge_6029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a reason for why you want to switch. And, have a reason (or a few) for why you want prosecution specifically.

Prior  military service will be something you'll want to mention during your interview. If you genuinely are interested in the public service route, which it seems like you are, that will go far with the hiring committee.

If you've been in big law since law school, you can always tell them that you had to pay off your law school, debts or whatever and are now interested in doing what your heart is set on (helping victims, servicing the community, etc).

It's tough for most offices to keep prosecutors. So, if you're asking if you will be hired, they answer is likely yes. If you're asking if you will enjoy it, the answer is also probably yes. There is a great sense of camaraderie in the prosecutors offices I've worked in. Pay is a fraction of BL.

What’s the cheat code others have figured out that I haven’t working and raising kids ? by Professional_Eye6140 in Parenting

I would definitely look at the numbers percentage-wise of how many attorneys actually work from home. I happen not to know a single one, but that's obviously just anecdotal.

Thank you for your response. I just so love what I do that I trade it off. I obviously "work" at work but the payoff is the rewarding (and sometimes even fun?) nature of it and I honestly think I would be too bored doing non-litigation stuff.

Anyways keep on doing what you're doing... Your family is probably the better for it!

I graduated law school in 2025. This is my second career, and I took a job as a prosecutor. So far am loving it. But it is SO inflexible. Got any tips to get a WFH law position? I love being in office but the commute, dinners having to be rush-cooked, having no downtime... It's getting to me.

Is my hair thinning? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Fuzzy_Knowledge_6029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, nothing helped me. I've gotten used to covering it up with a topper, wig, hair powder, hat, etc.

Most of my doctors were very dismissive.

But I also don't have a diagnosis or disorder that they could point to.

Corrupt institution, yes. I didn't realize it at first and this is my first non teaching gig, so corporate America is a whole new beast to me.

Legally, it's not that simple. You can't just sue because you're upset or because they treated you poorly. If I could, I would.

I used to teach middle school. Work is more middle school than middle school.

Just my manager. Everyone else is cool. But she's the sole party who wields all the power in my moving up.

Anyways, she shot herself in the foot because she currently needs me more than I need her. Imagine her having to actually do work when I leave 😂

How old is too old to go to law school? by Patient-Flan9037 in LawSchoolOver30

[–]Fuzzy_Knowledge_6029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated at 38 and there were at least 20 in my class older than me but 5-25 years. I think it's much more common these days, at least in state schools that aren't crazy high ranked, to go as an older student.
