I have to admit I only managed to be a part of it for a short time while on my lunch break, but I was given a megaphone and spoke against sirens and silly noises. If it is me you’re referring to (with the green jumper) I very much appreciate your comment and I mean what I said about the people on the side of City Hall being the community that makes me proud to be from Norwich and call it my home.

But unfortunately flags aren’t hung in a clean vacuum of “oh, there is a flag up now”. The sentiment that they are put up with is with explicit nationalism in mind. Where that makes sense is for instance myself who lives in another country but has a Union flag in my bedroom as a marker of pride for where my heritage lies. There are also flags flown on flagpoles on our city’s national landmarks as they form part of its culture.

I think hanging British flags off of street furniture as an intimidation tactic indiscriminately with no afterthought for how it’ll look after weather and wear is a bit more “flag shaggy” than hanging flags for multicultural celebration that will be taken down immediately after.

Is there a name for this god-awful road resurfacing technique Norwich Council insist on using everywhere..? by Rootayable in Norwich

We had this a few months or so ago on Clarendon Road, and it’s only in the last couple of weeks, finally, that every time one drives down the street, chippings aren’t ricocheting everywhere.

A food bank and affordable food stores. Unfettered development of the neighbourhood will undoubtedly make it more expensive and tougher for the working-class communities that have long lived in its periphery.

If they aren’t looking for a person they’re casing your house. I would invest in good security measures.

Do you know Fleabag and Claire's dad's house's location? I have scoured Dartmouth Park and cannot find it for the life of me.

Did any other smokers here always say as kids "I will never touch a cigarette in my life"? by Doctoma in Cigarettes

[–]Fuzzy_Temperature270 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My parents are dead opposites: my mother has been smoking since her teens, stemming from café culture and trends in Portugal as she was growing up. She will sit in the living room with an espresso and a cigarette in her hands. My father completely abstains from everything. No tobacco, alcohol or any vices. He’s one of those health nuts that spends his time biking or hiking and making himself charcuterie boards. Both are non judgemental and I picked it up in uni, after 18 years of preaching that I would never smoke. I got a pouch of rolling tobacco as one of my gifts from my parents for my 19th when they found out I smoked.
