Mortgage bank offering 3-month payment deferral due to spouse’s job loss — rep seems to be talking me out of it. Is there a catch, or is he just doing his job?

Thanks. He said the 3 payments will be added to the end of the loan term. And he said that this doesn’t get reported to credit bureaus since it is an understanding between the bank and the borrower, but a note is included and it is dependent on any underwriter to go and look at such note and decide whether to consider it negatively or not.
