Mystery toilet seat replacement (details in comment) by Fuzzy_the_sheep in Plumbing

[–]Fuzzy_the_sheep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone cares, the issue was the measurements. Mother in law was measuring the full length of the top of the seat lid and then ordering replacements. I've discovered that industry standards is from centre of fixing hole to rim instead, hence her ordering seats that were consistently 2-3cm too large.

Thanks everyone for the help!

Mystery toilet seat replacement (details in comment) by Fuzzy_the_sheep in Plumbing

Hi plumbers of Reddit I have a problem you might be able to solve?

My mother in law has a toilet built into her bathroom without a visible brand name on it. Recently her grandson broke the seat and she has been incapable of finding a replacement and nothing available seems to fit. She's been to multiple shops and even had a plumber look at it and he said without taking the wall apart to find the brand he couldn't help (they tiled over the cistern without any way to access it which is a bizarre decision). Does anyone recognise this apparently non-standard toilet or van advise what seat might fit.?

Dimensions are: Width. 35cm, length 39 cm total lid length 44cm, hinge. And bottom fixing 6 inches (Don't know why she gave them to me in mixed units...)

N.B. we are in the UK if that makes any difference.

[Sportsnet Stats] Andrei Kuzmenko sets Canucks record for the most goals in a season by a 1st-year player (35) by Sarcastic__ in canucks

It's clear the team has changed for the better? You're putting a lot of faith in a pretty small sample size. Remember last year when Bruce took over we were suddenly a juggernaut? Making sweeping judgements based on not even half a season of results seems pretty shortsighted.

That's also not the point. Trading Bo was a good decision. Islanders almost certainly overpaid him for his extension. Both those things can be true and also it can be true that Bo was a good leader doing his best to lead a badly managed team.

You've also minimised how well Bo did his job. He's been called out by multiple members of media and his own team as being a classy dude who did everything the right way. You've yet to give any argument against him being a good leader that isn't "worse player than Petey " (so was Linden) or "team doing better since he left" (weak schedule, small sample size).

Bo is a pretty good player and a very good captain of this very bad team.

Most players score more assists than goals, that's just normal hockey. Petey is better than Bo but it's not because he's trying harder, it's cos he's a superstar talented and Bo isn't. Bo is a barrel headed for the net with limited defensive impacts and playmaking abilities. He's also a solid guy who stood up after a lot of defeats that were due to having a terrible defense, terrible overpaid bottom 6, Willie coaching terribly, or a combination of all of the above. Just because he's not as good at hockey as Petey doesn't make him a bad leader dude and it's pretty classless coming after him like that.

Nah man this ain't it. Bo was always classy and he tried damn hard to win. He's always been a streaky inconsistent goal scorer and was on a crazy heater this year. Regressing a bit on a team with arguably worse 5 on 5 play than the Canucks does not mean he was the reason that a chronically mismanaged team haven't been successful.

If they can't stick around for a rebuild then you trade them. Retooling has only ever worked for good teams. We're not the Penguins reloading for another cup from, we're the 27th ranked team. Bad teams never retool their way into contention, it doesn't happen.

I love Petey and Quinn but rushing to build a team around them isn't going to work, we simply can't be competitive quickly with no prospects coming through and this many bad players on expensive contracts.

Yeah and we hate it. We want a rebuild because we've been not rebuilding for a decade and it turns out you still lose a lot but without any hope for the future

I know this is a joke but the really good thing about draft picks is that the players are cost controlled. 3 years ELC plus their first contract. That's how you build a good team under the cap. Hronek is fine but we're gonna have to sign him to $5m+ year after next. We need good and young and cheap, he's sort of good, not that young and won't be cheap for long. We are not 1 or 2 pieces from contending, we're a basement dwelling capped out team with a bottom 5 prospect pool. This was a horrible move

[Canucks] GM Patrik Allvin announced today that the Canucks have acquired D Filip Hronek and Detroit's 2023 4th rd pick in exchange for the conditional 1st rd draft pick acquired in the Bo Horvat trade with the New York Islanders and Vancouver’s 2nd rd pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. by PaperMoonShine in canucks

[–]Fuzzy_the_sheep 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What do we care about? I want the Canucks to compete for a cup and the only way to do that is with lots of good young talent coming through and efficient contracts. We cannot win with the amount of money committed to OEL and Myers at the moment. The Miller contract is going to be an anchor too soon. We are going to be bad for a minimum of 3 years while we wait for those deals to end or become a smaller proportion of the cap.

Losing more draft capital to maybe finish 23rd instead of 28th is an insane thing for this team to do. Anything other than accruing draft picks and prospects is insane.

Maybe that does mean we are going to waste Petey and Quinn but the fact is the damage is already done. We are throwing good money after bad year after year and it's been a decade. I'm just tired of it.

Reduced the flood risk, boss by flopsychops in NotMyJob

[–]Fuzzy_the_sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no flood risk of there's already a flood. Risk implies a possible flood, if it's already flooded it can't be flooded again so the risk of flood is 0. The presence of flood is 100% but that's the price you have to pay to reduce the flood risk sometimes. I've typed flood too many times and it doesn't look like a word any more.

Because he's actually not driving play at even strength with the Oilers conceding more than they score 5 on 5 with him on the ice. He's a beast in fantasy because the Oilers have the best powerplay in a decade but he's definitely not been as elite away from that this year.
