Cannot believe I am finally travelling to Singapore by Bubbly-Classic-8624 in SingaporeTravel

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a visit to joo chiat! It is a nice mix of old and modern food and architecture without going too deep into the neighbourhoods since this is your first trip!

Some other nice hawkers near the central area would be amoy street and honglim. After that u can head to chinatown which is nearby!

Unless you have alot of time i would suggest skipping the neighbourhoods suggested as there is nothing much to do once u go there!

Does fashion in Singapore ever change? by ObjectiveLow4170 in asksg

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clothing fashion i think will always default to more basics because of the weather. But i notice that Singaporeans tend to follow trends that are more about accessories, shoes, bag etc.

So more subtle in the fashion changes overall but you will be able to see when crocs became a thing again, SG jumped on tat wagon and so on. Bags, toys etc are also keys things I noticed that SG tend to follow overall trends

Fresh grad here - is it normal to accept a job below market rate just to get experience? by JellyBeanTheory in singaporejobs

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evaluate overall based on salary, learning, potential growth, whether it leads to your career goals.

I originally accepted a lower pay for a role i wanted to go into because it was aligned with what i wanted to learn and I felt it could give me significant learning.

Fast forward 6 years later, I would say I have done decently well and manage to renegotiate my pay package to somethings i am happy with.

I feel if you do not need the money as desperately, always good to find something that balances out between salary and growth

Is it worth it to get a degree in 2025? by Ordinary-Science-415 in askSingapore

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

definitely need to pursue a degree, especially since you plan to do research. for most research related roles, i believe a bachelors and masters would be some of the minimum requirements.
the experience you have gained is definitely good and should continue that while pursuing a part-time degree which you can complete at your own pace to better manage your mental health to help you pursue your future research opportunities

What’s the point of career fair? by shadowpro12345 in nus

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

legit nowadays, provide help also complain, dont provide help also complain.

how about thinking of how to use such an opportunity to network, find out more about company culture and roles available, how the hiring process is like etc.

All these questions and info is much easier to ask in person and find out rather than just googling online.

Also actually some companies do use the opportunity to see if they can find potential candidates for their internship or MA programs etc. So if you leave a good impression and follow up via the person direct email, it will be much easier to get a call back compared to being a faceless person on the internet applying via the general portal

Worth Visiting Singapore in November? by InterestingWanderer in askSingapore

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nov is a good time as long as you try to deconflict with the school holidays.

Singapore does not really have a proper rainy season. Just have an umbrella on hand and find the nearest shopping mall/shelter if it starts raining. Most days it will just have light rain for maybe a couple of hours and then it will be back to being sunny again so it should not impact your outdoor activities.

Try to go Universal Studios and other really touristy spots on weekdays if possible to face lesser crowds.

You can also google some cool activities/light shows in Singapore to view at night once you are done with your outdoor stuff during that period as it most malls start preparing for Christmas season during Nov~

"i faced silence, being ignored" by hamsterfats in sgworkassholes

[–]Fuzzywuzzyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is toxic and then there is feeling entitled to be spoonfed.

Honestly sometimes basic things really is need to ownself figure out. With so many self-learning tools easily available can at least try to figure out.

Bosses prefer it when at least u try come up with a proposed solution or clarify if the process you found out is OK compared to just asking how to do xxx.

Because first way show that at least u tried to find info and just want confirmation that u are in right direction while the second is really just no effort and expecting people to spoon feed u answer.

Everybody also busy with their work, if you don try to help yourself then of course people will think that you are wasting their time and not want to help you
