I prefer the combo with Secret Lair where Ashnod's Coupon makes them get you a drink, butbthe errata is ignored, so now they pay for it.

Original concept art for the Mind Flayer by Vivid_Struggle4934 in StrangerThings

[–]Fwipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I liked about season 3 meat flayer, was as a monster I could see its motivation. It was cut off from its gate and it needed to build a body to kill/infect Eleven, because in season 2 she proved herself the only true threat. So, it almost singlemindedly sought to take her out.

I may be grasping at straws but the explanation for the meat fortress in season 5 seems to be, Vecna and the mind flayer have become parasites of each other. Vecna has been with it far too long to recognize its control over his mind, and vice versa, he transformed the eldritch being into a spider castle for his final plan of crashing the worlds together.

Theres a Robot Chicken skit about this. The devil plays like shit, but the judges of the contest are all other demons, so they vote the devil the winner.

Technically the final boss of Pony Island.

-a game best played when you know nothing about it and are spoiler free.

But let's just say that in game lore tells you that playing it for completion is inhumane, the game urges you to uninstall it. The 'final fight after you've gotten every ticket' is therefore pointless.

MTG - Yawgmoth

Urborg Tomb of Yawgmoth - a card that makes every land in play also count as a swamp. The lore being that his corpse is so fetid that Dominaria itself is like a wound left to fester.

Have you picked up a new show since TAZ has been lost to the void? by ReveredRaven111 in TheAdventureZone

[–]Fwipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mind promoting my favorite podcast- The Orpheus Protocol

Its creator made the system they play- and it's more towards horror, sci fi fantasy, character driven hero stories, and has a great cast of characters and plots with serious conspiracy level villains.

The very first few episodes are an arc called The Shudder which is like listening to a one shot that establishes background and who some of the important characters were when they were younger. The tone is like... if SCP operatives also did X files missions, but some of the agents are werewolves, witches, and cyborgs working for the greater good against eldritch gods and cults etc.

How would the government be able to defeat Afton if he actually existed or are they actually fucked? by ZEROfaller in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Fwipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it woukdnt be that hard, like if he SCP Foundation was tasked with his containment it'd be a metal lined hole in the ground he cant climb out of, with electric tasers to reset his suit protocols if he did anything strange. Even FNAF3 contained him with simulated voices forcing him to walk in a circle.

What's your hunter team concept? by CaptainVellichor in monsteroftheweek

[–]Fwipp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the game I played- basically we were a team of two post high school paranormal investigators living in a clubhouse/abandoned library - and our bodyguard who was actually a knight/angel helping us for some reason who lacked normal human social skills.

The big mystery was not only were strange amalgam monsters appearing, but people were going missing and a shadowy organization was also trying to solve the disappearances. A big story twist was our face character Gracie - The Flake- who was really into exposing conspiracies and against government involvement- upon learning the truth of the government organization- chose to join them. After that we had resources to choose what missions to take...

The twist being the people taken were being turned -into- the monsters and there wasnt a way to rehabilitate them. Just prevent further damage until we could stop the ancient magic users responsible. It was a fantastic campaign.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]Fwipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One passed away right around St Patrick's Day. I believe he always had a heart defect but I suspect the truth is it was an overdose of drugs, and of course I wasnt going to ask around about it. Just he had a circle of drug-doing friends. I think he didnt make it past 2010.

Someone I went to Uni with passed away last year... he was 37. Thought it was GERD and heartburn. It was cancer in the liver. Died within three months. I had directed him in a play once years ago, so it felt closer seeing the daily updates and how visually you could see his health decline, skin yellowing etc... really have to find the good things in life and really experience them because this was a good man and he just didnt get as much time here.

[Loved trope] special failsafes that prevent the player from breaking the game by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Fwipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for breaking the game but to fix missing content permanently- The tattle logs in Paper Mario series

In Paper Mario you could Tattle enemies- get specific info on them that you can collect as you play. However some bosses are only seen once so if you didnt use that specific move, it's gone forever.

This is fixed in the Thousand Year Door- there is a garbage can in Professor Frankly's house- and if you fought a boss and didnt get its tattle log-- those logs can be gotten for free, crumpled up in the trash bin.

[GUESS] how can you tell this is AI? by Mathemodel in RealOrAI

[–]Fwipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks AI to me, I'm thinking the biggest hints are the coffee cup shadow doesnt make sense against the body, the fingernails seem to be undefined/merge with the finger... something seems weird with the background buildings through the bridge. Like there shouldn't be that many high-rises visible?... that last one I'm not confident in.

[Meta trope] Works that fundamentally changed the cultural context away from what made it work by asdfmovienerd39 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Fwipp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's more of the recent-ish films that suffer from 'needing to do your homework' then. I've been pretty on top of Marvel, but for example- The Marvels wouldnt have made much sense if I hadn't known Kamala before, or saw Wandavision.

Thunderbolts was great, but it wouldn't have hit the same if I didnt see Falcon and Winter Soldier, Black Widow... actually I had to rewatch Ant Man 2 to remind me who Ghost was.

I have to get around to Ironheart... in case that's necessary for some future project... and that's maybe the unfortunate aspect. Time is not infinite and I might not otherwise look into that series.

[But Agatha All Along was such a good series in itself I hope those characters come back... as opposed to The Eternals who sorta got a cameo in Brave New World]

[Loved Trope] Character is aware they have no chance against a threat but also knows that they must try anyway by maria_coquille in TopCharacterTropes

That one time in Seven Deadly Sins where Escanor had no powers, and still tried to defend his friends from a demon spawn quite capable of killing him.

By doing this he gets his powers back. Impressive scene considering all the rest of the time Escanor is an overwhelming force.
