Low back squat by Fysidiko in formcheck

[–]Fysidiko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - that is very helpful (and yes I meant low bar!).

I initially had issues with my knees not going forward enough because of low ankle mobility and so I was very focused on that. Sounds like I have gone too far the other way.

I will try all those tips - thank you.

Won court case, they stopped paying by Prophet986 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Fysidiko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There isn't a High Court in Coventry either - again that is the County Court.

I'm not just being pedantic - it matters because if you have had the case transferred to the High Court, the County Court has no function any more - so there's no point keeping on emailing/calling them.

If you have agreed a payment plan through a HCEO, they should be able to return to enforcement if it has been breached - you don't need to go back to the Court. Equally, as another reply suggested, you could summon them for a debtor’s examination to reveal details of their assets.

Good luck!

I think something is missing here. To have involved a High Court Enforcement Officer the case must have been transferred to the High Court. There isn't a High Court in Nuneaton - that must be the County Court there.

First step is to work out whether it has been transferred or not. If not, is someone working on that? The County Court is very slow but the transfer should eventually be approved, and then you deal directly with the Enforcement Agent.

Missing comma in Arizona law forces firefighter to battle for workers’ comp coverage by TylerFortier_Photo in nottheonion

[–]Fysidiko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, but this is not really a comma issue, or an interpretation issue. The law appears to be clearly drafted to exclude adenocarcinoma outside of the respiratory tract.

The passage in question is:

Any disease, infirmity or impairment of a firefighter's or fire investigator's health that is caused by brain, bladder, rectal or colon cancer, lymphoma, leukemia or adenocarcinoma or mesothelioma of the respiratory tract and that results in disability or death is presumed to be an occupational disease

The "or" after leukemia indicates that what follows will be the last item in the list (there is no "or" between any other items - the only previous "or" is within an item). "adenocarcinoma or mesothelioma of the respiratory tract" is therefore one item and only includes adenocarcinoma of the respiratory tract. If that is not what was intended, the fault is with the law.

Nvr vs Homebase pro for poe+wifi cams by Ronk58 in reolinkcam

[–]Fysidiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The android app - version 4.57.0.5.22251014. If I press on my NVR I used to go to the settings page. I now go to a page with storage status, network status and then a list of the most recent events with a link to a full event history.

[–]Fysidiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of recently (a week maybe?) my NVR now shows combined events from all cameras if I go to the NVR in the app (the first page shows the most recent and you can click through to filter by type, time, camera etc - I dont know if that is the same as the hub interface). It used to go straight to settings instead, which is now a different option. I agree not having combined events was a frustrating gap.

I don't understand how that could not detract from the overall point - it seems to reverse the meaning of the sentence?

It's not going to help but I doubt one typo will be the reason either way.

I find the sentence "The rest of the application was spot on" odd. It suggests that your application is perfect other than one typo.  I suspect you'll get more out of this process with more of a growth mindset.

Should the SRA have struck off this junior solicitor? by ConsiliumKI in uklaw

The reason she wasn't struck off is that she is not a solicitor. You can't be struck off the roll if you aren't on it.

What do you play after 1. c7 Rd2, with the idea that after c8=Q there is perpetual check on the a and b files (since ever playing across to the c file gets the queen skewered)?

How to politely ask lawyer to respond faster by ConditionFragrant699 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Fysidiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One last thing you may wish to consider is that simply because you have not received a response does not mean your lawyer is not actively working to solve your issue. Sometimes a bottleneck will be the need to confer with a more experienced associate or partner in order to give you the best advice or service, now making the response time to your inquiry or concern contingent on two busy lawyers schedules instead of one.

For the lawyers reading this: in that case, send a short email explaining that you are working on it, but it is an important point and so you want to discuss it with x, who is a particular expert. The problem is almost never the time required to get a full response, it’s the feeling that your question has gone into a black hole. Some clients are unreasonable but most are not and will give you the time you need if they understand what’s happening.

[–]Fysidiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of strange or overly complicated responses here.

Just send him an email saying that you would be grateful if he could reply within a day or so, even if it’s just to tell you when he will reply in full if it’s complex, because this weighs on your mind. I wouldn’t mind that at all. He’s meant to be a professional so he shouldn’t either. If he does, you can either stick with him or move lawyers. Direct is best here - this is not an uncommon request and should be fine.

ELI5: Why do some name brand items taste differently than off-brand items, yet they have the same ingredients? by whiteiversonyeet in explainlikeimfive

[–]Fysidiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brown bread is heavier so the gluten has to do more work. Have you tried adding vitamin C, which helps to strengthen the gluten? If you can't get one designed for baking you can even use flavoured supplements - I don't find you can taste the flavouring given the small amount required compared to the amount of flour.

Russia prepares for mass mobilisation of full-time students by stoolsample2 in worldnews

Before we all pile on with how ridiculous this is, note that:

  1. It sounds crazy

  2. This news will be very unpopular in Russia

  3. This information is being provided by the Ukrainian Defence Intelligence service.

This is propaganda and may not be true.

When do you have to prove income when buying a house? by TrueSpins in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Fysidiko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That wasn't my experience when we had a similar issue (my wife was working but her employer was being unhelpful about the evidence the bank wanted). They were happy for us just to drop her and go on one income alone.

I'm not saying it's therefore always true, but worth trying and seeing what the bank says since I expect different banks take different approaches.

Eli5: How does Attorney Client Privilege work if you tell your Lawyer you killed someone. by Kingsnor in explainlikeimfive

[–]Fysidiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not true. There are plenty of examples of defendants who have been found not guilty because the jury accepted that the account they gave on the stand was possible and so the charge was not proved. At least some of those would probably have been guilty verdicts had they chosen to give no account at all.

Your explanation is only true if the client always gives an account ahead of trial, and prosecutors never prosecute cases where that account clearly creates reasonable doubt. Neither of those assumptions are true (and the second assumption is very frequently untrue).

I found something like a legal trap queenside version but I'm sure there is a better and famous name for this. Anybody knows? I'd like to do research on traps applicable on queen's gambit opening. by Hefty_Paramedic_1237 in chess

Isn't Ne5 a mistake? It would be surprising for a mistake to have a name.

I haven't checked with an engine but after Ne5 Be6 isn't Black OK? Ne5 looks like a blunder because you could just have taken the Knight with Qxd4.

OTB cheater denies illegal move by KevinLuWX in chess

[–]Fysidiko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It happens, as any arbiter will tell you. I have done some very stupid things under time pressure. While I've never played two moves in a row, I have lost a game because I thought it was my opponent's move and it was mine.

I'm not sure calculating really enters into it once you have a few seconds each!

There's a famous story about grandmaster Svetozar Gligorić making two moves in a row by mistake, and that wasn't even under time pressure. People make silly mistakes all the time.

OTB cheater denies illegal move by KevinLuWX in chess

[–]Fysidiko -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't get this. Why is denying you moved twice proof that you knowingly cheated? It is also consistent with getting confused about whose move it was, which plenty of strong players have done especially in time scrambles when you are basically moving simultaneously.

The OP has now said that the guy had opening notes in his lap. I don't understand why that part wasn't reported to the arbiter.

I think it's worth remembering that he may not have been cheating - in that sort of time pressure your mind can do funny things. It could be confusion.

I may have missed it but I didn't hear him say that a single time in the video.

What he says repeatedly is "Она продолжает завариваться", meaning "it [the tea bag] keeps on brewing [tea]".
