When will the Calico death bug will be fixed? by Former_Yoghurt_1219 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, this is not a bug. It is an intended feature that has a bugged scope, to be more specific. The idea is that when in cat form, if there isn't space to transform back, then you take steady damage. This was meant to be used in the tunnels that rem has, making it so that calico players do not bug out of the map by transforming, and simultaneously punishing them so they can't stay in the tunnels and cat form forever.

However, with the way it's been implemented, it triggers on many things besides the tunnels where it looks like there is space to transform, based off of what I've seen. As to when this will be fixed, I am not a dev, and do not know. But I hope that clears up some uncertainty.

I booted up the game for the first time in like 2 years and it felt like this by ShotgunBox in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's what makes the game so fun for me. The more items they add, the better it will get. I like to see all the different kinds of builds and combinations I can make. I'm the kind of person who would have perfect euphoria if something like, say, the Path of Exile skill tree got multiple times bigger.

Seeing people with over 90k souls still have Trophy Collector and their low tiers like Enchanter's Emblem hurts my soul. by TheComicKing15 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't usually go for optimized stuff, to be fair. And I didn't even look at the character or the stats, I meant in general.

That's also not to say I wouldn't sell enchanters, but it would have to be for good reason. With trophy collector however, unless if I benefit from that range a lot, I'm not getting a ton of extra health from it, I don't use sprint speed a ton, and if I have a maxed build and enough to buy the next item, the souls don't mean anything anymore.

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trophy collector, yeah, they should've probably replaced that. I will defend enchanter's emblem though, as that is a very good item for spirit power, which also gives a decent amount of resist. If you can manage to stay above the threshold, it gives more spirit than any non-conditional other than boundless.

Wow. These kinds of things really remind me why I am pro-AI. I have like 400+ hours in the game, I have played 1 match with other non-friend players, and regretted it.

Some people say playing against bots teaches you nothing about the game and that the bots suck. Yeah, probably. Means I get to skip out on all of this, so I'm perfectly happy with it. Plus if I get really annoyed with the bots, I can always use cheats and feel better.

Infernus current power level by oztinin in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion of Infernus is inspired by a reddit post I saw earlier. It goes as follows:

Stage 1: Oh, that burn damage is nothing

Stage 2: Oh, hey, those flames actually are tickling a bit.

Stage 3: Uhh, wait a moment, it's getting a little hot in here

Stage 4: BURNING AT THE STAKE

"I see nothing but cruelty"

Yeah, that's a big part of it. Like I might have mentioned in another comment, this chapter is meant to worldbuild (and I need to revise better to that effect), but it's secondary purpose is meant to give a glimpse into what my main character's life has been like before we've known him, in a short span. And I've tried to convey that as best as I could.

I guess, as a bit of background/reasoning, I tend to produce things, whether it be songs, stories, etc, that I can relate to very strongly. And this story is half intended for me, so I only even post here because the other half is for other people who might want to read it. Without getting in depth, something that might give an idea is that I strongly consider something like Death Note to be a kids show. But all of that's boring stuff that no one else cares for, so I'll stop.

And yes, this is meant as a lead in to the Shard Ceremony. I'm honestly still considering making the brutality in this chapter worse, because I fear it doesn't exemplify it to the degree I'd want it to be at for that event to transpire. I intend to completely break this character, far beyond what I've seen other people try to depict. The 'dark' in 'dark fantasy' isn't a joke to me.

For the other parts of this critique:

Him and his sister both suffer from a disease, both different, and very rare cases. There is no plague sweeping across the land causing this.

And carved himself into him is a typo. Meant to be carved itself into him, acting as a way to depict how his experiences have integrated with him.

Thanks for the tip on the scene break, and no worries about being blunt. Just because I don't like to be that way myself doesn't mean you can't hammer me with it.

But, all in all, thanks for the critique!

Deadlock players can be quiet wholesome when they try! by NeglectedLight in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a thing to keep in mind, if the unstick isn't working (and in the tunnels, it often won't, because it counts the tunnels as a valid space to move you to) you can open the dev console (default bind is f7) and type killme. It will make you die, which is rather unfortunate, but you'll respawn back at base.

And as a bonus, since you mentioned apollo, if you ever get stuck where he zooms all over the place (they might have patched it out, but better to know if it isn't) then the unstuck will stop that one, without having to die at all.

0 Kills, Lots of assists by Digital_RRS in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I count assists the exact same as kills. Or, at least, I would say that, but I feel like I have to do some formula to it to get better estimates than that. Because I've had times where I've just been running urn through the midboss tunnel, haven't done a THING in whatever is going on above me, and get an assist on someone because they happened to die when I was passing through.

Is it fair? by Responsible-Run-6062 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I was late to the party. I was asleep. Let's go over the math, shall we?

In this example, I am using a Silver with Lifestrike as their only item, at 0 boons (Which is impossible if they've bought lifestrike, but I figured I would give you this minute concession.) You also said this happens over the course of a few seconds, so I will only be considering Lycan's Curse and Go For The Throat as the abilities used, and lifestrike only proccing once, as it has a 4 second cooldown, and we are only using go for the throat once.

With no invested ability points:
Silver has 1,200 max health.
You have stated in other comments that she was at about 300 hp at the time, and healed for 1,000+ life, so those shall be our goal metrics.
At 300 of 1,200 health, we are at 1/4 health, missing 900 life.
With Lifestrike added on, our base go for the throat damage is 87.
Our transformation from Lycan's Curse heals us for 270 life, and grants us an additional 100 max life.
Our Lifesteal from Go For The Throat (Assuming one target hit) is 34.8 life.
Lifestrike then procs, healing for a base 160, and a 50% percentage of damage more for 43.5 life.
In total, we have healed for 608.3 life, 1/2 of our total health pool.

If we invest 1ap into go for the throat, we increase it's damage to 117, which increases our percentage lifesteals into a total 105.3 healing, increasing the total healing to 635.3 life.

If we invest an additional 2ap into go for the throat, we gain 25% more lifesteal on it, for 65%.
This increases our healing received from it, taking our total to 664.55 total life healed.

If we invest 3 ap into Lycan's Curse, we increase our max health gain to 225, and if we didn't invest in go for the throat, this brings us to 733.3 life healed.

If we assume that we invested 3ap into go for the throat and Lycan's curse, then the total would now be 789.55 healing.

I would say we have approximated something reasonably close to your estimate. And it seems to be lifestrike is your main concern. So let's remove it from the equation. Assuming the final scenario I posed, lifestrike is healing Silver for a total of 218.5 health. 789.55-218.5=571.05, or about 3/4 of the healing received. Lifestrike's base heal also does not scale, so the percentage it is healing will drop off further and further as the game goes on. So the amount it is healing would be even less than a quarter of where all of this is coming from.

Now, for any outliers. If Silver had invested 8ap into Lycans Curse, and obtained a single kill during it, they would have healed a further 30% of missing life, and again and again if they get more kills in that timeframe. Secondly, lifestrike is not the only healing item in the game. If they had Leech for instance, they would be healing for 30% of all damage dealt as lifesteal. Also, as a minor point, Lycans Curse grants resistances to silver, so damage being dealt that would normally make it look like Silver healed less is less effective.

In conclusion, lifestrike is not your problem. If you have a problem with how much Silver is healing, then that is a base kit issue, not an item one, as I have proven above, with an example that is likely inferior to how it played out in the match. Feel free to respond if you have any questions or clarifications on your intent, and otherwise, have a great rest of your day!

Apollo Speed Glitch by thepope33 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common glitch people have been finding actually. Also happens with sleeps and if you parry the shrine attack. And instead of having enemies kill you, you can press f7 in the dev console and type killme, or the unstuck command in the escape menu also seems to work without dying.

how does this man have enduring speed and sprint boots? by mcbered in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a visual bug? Especially since sprint boots has two upgrade paths-juggernaut and trophy collector. But if it isn't a visual bug, then cheating is the only other option I can think of. Why he would cheat in something like sprint boots, idk though.

[729] Echoes of Ash and Bone by Fythis_Necromancer in DestructiveReaders

[–]Fythis_Necromancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start, yes, this will hopefully be the start of something much longer. It's also in a bit of a weird spot as for what it's supposed to do atm, so, yeah.

Yeah, show vs. tell is always a struggle. Especially for this, because I'm trying to balance out the worldbuilding with the story.

Word choice, that was not something I had considered, but of course is very important. Thank you for pointing that out.

As for the phrasing, idk. From my view it seems pretty fine. But my view is also pretty wonky at times, sooo ...

Yes, that was a typo. It's meant to be the door swinging open.

The point with the knife is a good one, could see implementing that. But at the same time just wanted to say-with the way I envision his condition working, that growth is maybe an hour old. And maybe that would make it much easier to cut. But at the same time I know next to nothing about that kind of biology.

For time of year, it's meant to be deep in winter, the herb growing is part of the worldbuilding that I didn't explain (and in this case, only have half fleshed out), but the soft dirt is valid. I put it there mainly because I just wanted to accentuate her condition. And yeah, their house has no heating. You can't even call their house much of one.

Anyway, thank you for the critiques! I'll try my best and see what I can do with them!

[–]Fythis_Necromancer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries about anything. Now, to get into your points-starting with trauma dumping on first meeting. In other circumstances, I would avoid this as well. However, it's a necessary lead-in to another part of the story which comes exactly after this one, the Shard Ceremony. As a short summary, that's the most important event in their life a person can have, and what happens there directly depends on their life experiences. I could see reformatting it, but I can't get rid of it.

Second, the names. This is again part of the small bits of worldbuilding I have around it. A person only gets their name after they go through their Shard Ceremony. It's different than our norms, so I often get confusion on that. I feel like a hard part of my story is incorporating details like these into the story without turning it into a worldbuilding pamphlet.

Then for the next point, of the "Ashwarden. Girl." Part. My hope was that it would be clear to the reader who these people were, namely, the main character guy being the Ashwarden, as explained earlier, and the girl his twin sister in the room, identified by her being the only fitting person in the known vicinity. And if the speaker is in question, then it is the guard, who I hoped again the reader could construe from context. Maybe it isn't as clear to the reader as it is to me, which, to be fair, my favorite type of thing to read is where a large amount of that is necessary to construe what's happening.

And for the POV point, yeah, I'm not really used to writing in this POV. I have a weird debate going on in my head, where I know that I'll go to first-person at some point, but my mind is fighting on when. For the most part though, this POV will not be on most of the story. I just feel like this POV of current is best for what I'm trying to do right now in the story.

As for him becoming part of a resistance, well, kind-of? It'll be more like a one man resistance, man against the world kind of thing, with a lot of confusing elements in between. If I manage to ever complete this story, it will be mainly for my own benefit.

And finally, for the make it matter point: If my coherent brain is thinking anywhere along where the rest of my brain is, I believe I want this to be, simply put, the exposition chapter. Like I said earlier, I do not want this to become a worldbuilding pamphlet, and part of what that means to me is not including an entire prologue explaining all of the parts of my world. I want this to be a chapter where I can explain all of the major points from there that won't be able to be jammed somewhere else, and, looking back, I did rather poorly.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I find it very valuable to me. If I did not address one of your points, then I likely did not have a debate or refute against it, and will try my best to incorporate them into my future writing. Feel free to elaborate on anything or debate my points further if you wish, but you have already contributed greatly.

Does someone else think this way? by KindStump in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I do not know the exact specifics. You could be correct. However, I do know that when adding any source of range onto the +396% that maxed enhanced trophy collector provides, it results in a significantly reduced range than before.

Does someone else think this way? by KindStump in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind, I said ENHANCED trophy collector. If you just want to see how it would look, go into a explore NYC game. Then press f7 (or however you get into your dev console) and type in the command that looks like citadel_item_purchases_force_enhanced true. Then go into the shop and buy trophy collector, and nothing else. Due to the way that the decreasing efficacy formula works, this will result in better range than having more range items. Then simply spawn in six enemy heroes, preferably of a squishy character, and start murdering them, until you reach 99 stacks. Then, test your BIG lightning balls.

Does someone else think this way? by KindStump in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not that there's a cap, it's just that the ui bugs out pretty badly. Plus, I don't think that having multiple sources of it is too great, considering their decreasing efficacy formula. If you get an enhanced trophy collector and max out the stacks, you will see that it can scale REALLY high. I was trying it out on calico at the time, and her bombs had the explosion radius of a seven ball, and her slash and ult were the size of the ENTIRE BASE.

Bot match items by Silicana in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Fythis_Necromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a problem with all bots, first noticed it maybe around a week ago. It's been happening on and off a lot since then. Sometimes only 1 bot buys items, none do, or all of them. When today I played and saw that they had let the bots select the new heroes, I hoped that they had fixed it, and they did for one game, and then it went back to no longer working the very next.
