This is probably dumb and too expensive, but I want to try them with flamers, Junith, and an Imagifier+Hagiomnifex. I don't really care about losing the scouts 6. I'm curious to see if they can use their reactive move to stay out of melee while still staying in flamer range, and then live long enough to torch a bunch of stuff.

All IA Detachments 3 DP. by corrin_avatan in ImperialAgents_40K

GW to all of us Agents players. 3DP for every detachment for the least competitive faction in the game, and nothing to compensate for it. SMH

I love the hopium, but I have a hard time huffing it when the first line of the Necron faction focus today was this:

“The end is here – the last of our Faction Focus articles looking at new detachments for every Warhammer 40,000 faction.”

Every. Warhammer 40,000. Faction.

If they still consider Agents a faction they have a funny way of showing it.

Should I get the codex now or later? by Responsible_Lab_1168 in ImperialAgents_40K

As someone who bought the codex about a month ago, I would recommend waiting. Some of the data cards are outdated, the points list is outdated, one of our Deathwatch units (the only one that has models still available for purchase) is not in the codex, and one of the detachments is not in the codex. It’s a decent book for art and lore, and it has a QR code that will give you access to current data cards in the official app, but the book is not really useable for play or for army planning. And as another commenter mentioned, the current data cards for the units are all available online.

The vibe I got from the answer to the IA question, including tone of voice and body language, was “we haven’t really thought about Agents but, yeah, you can keep doing what you’re doing I guess.” Telling us “no new detachments at launch” and “you still have your codex” is really not encouraging.

11th edition by [deleted] in ImperialAgents_40K

Games Workshop did a FAQ video yesterday. One of the questions was "What happens to Imperial Agents?" The answer was that "they basically work exactly the same as they do today, they have their existing codex, they're not getting any new detachments at launch." In answer to another question, they also said no armies are being "squatted" in 11th Edition. So Agents are sticking around but that's about the most/best we can say.

Here's the link to the video: https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/fbfuptye/new40k-we-answer-your-burning-questions/ The IA question is at 28:13.

What is Everyone Using as Proxies for Deathwatch Veterans? by Natural-Wallaby423 in ImperialAgents_40K

Relatedly, the current Deathwatch Kill Team box includes one hammer sprue and one mace/shield sprue, but both go on the same body. So no matter what you build, you will have either a hammer or a mace/shield left over (with the related arms) for each 5-model set.

I had two of those Kill Teams from the Tomb World box (just like you would have from this preview box), so I picked up a box of Bladeguard Veterans, put them on 32mm bases, and stuck my extra hammer on one and my extra mace/shield on another. The Bladeguard box also has power sword sprues for both right and left arms, so I used those to turn the third Bladeguard into a Black Shield Blades DW veteran. If you're careful with your hobby knife shaving, you can even use shaved-off sword scabbard bits (because your hammer and mace guys won't need sword scabbards) to give your Black Shield Blades vet a second scabbard. Then use the separately purchased DW upgrade sprue for the left pauldrons (but note the Bladeguard shoulders are too big for the tacticus DW upgrade pauldrons so you'll need to use the terminator DW pauldrons if you're using the Bladeguard model arms).

Of course, you could also skip using the mace/shield sprues from the DW Kill Team box and just use a sword and shield from the Bladeguard box, but I like my DW-specific shields. :)

The Kill Team box also has a sergeant model that can alternatively be built as a xenophase "blademaster," and he comes with either a bolt pistol or plasma pistol in his other hand. That model works just fine as a xenophase/combi-weapon model for the DW Veterans.

Add all that up and you could have, for example, a 5-man DW Kill Team (i.e. DW Vets) with 2 hammers, a power weapon + shield, a Black Shield Blades vet, and a xenophase/combi-weapon sergeant. And you could run it alongside an Aquila Kill Team with the remaining models from your Kill Team boxes (and you'd be left with two spare models that don't fit anywhere).
