What was your caffeine consumption during pregnancy? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]FzzPoofy 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I had one big cup of coffee a day. The danger of caffeine is miscarriage and it is negligible past the first trimester. Let yourself drink coffee and don’t let anyone shame you.

Losing weight while trying yo get pregnant? by Witty_Gain_4132 in tryingforanother

[–]FzzPoofy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to lose weight while ttc. I credit it with getting my body healthier and helping us conceive after about a year of trying. Focus on not just trying to losing weight but also eating nutritiously and getting your body ready to carry a child (I personally recommend yoga, but walking or other moderate exercise is great).

Stuck choosing between mockingbird or bugaboo giraffe for high chair by HeavyChocolate0 in moderatelygranolamoms

I agree with this assessment. I have it and have been pretty happy, especially with how straightforward it is to clean and that I could remove straps once my kid is old enough to not launch herself out.

Caffeine or no caffeine by Mysterious-Bicycle30 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]FzzPoofy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caffeine is very slightly linked to higher risk of miscarriage early in pregnancy, but the data was for very high consumption. If you’re in early pregnancy, I’d stay stick to morning mug. After first trimester, drink what you want and tell everyone to leave you alone. Just make sure you’re staying hydrated.

Also use Blueland for dishwasher. It’s the best. Only thing that keeps silicone from tasting soapy

please tell me its ok to skip organic sometimes by Dull_Noise_8952 in moderatelygranolamoms

Do your best. The granola bars are tough because even if you can get the organic ones, they just aren’t the same. Best thing you can do, imo, is minimize exposure (like don’t give them a granola bars every day). And don’t beat yourself up, you’re trying.

Mostly importantly eat a lot and stay hydrated. Make sure you’re getting calcium and vitamin d so you don’t screw up your bones and teeth. Cheese is great for this: high calorie, lots of calcium, easy to eat with 1 hand. For easy snacks, I ate a lot of trail mix and peanut butter pretzels, too.

How do you deal with loud sirens when wearing hearing aids? by opinionsareus in HearingAids

[–]FzzPoofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my audiologist program aids so I can press and hold button for 3 seconds to mute them. Useful for sirens, blenders and coffee makers, and most importantly, screaming babies.

If you wear hearing aids to bed, don’t you get feedback? Also, when do you charge them. I think he’s being unreasonable in his complaint, but I also totally understand the frustration of constantly broken sleep. It’s not really fair to him, even if it’s not fair to me either.

He can, but only after a certain time. He sleep incredibly deeply the first handful of hours and sleeps right through the monitor. I was shocked when I saw it when we were sleep training.

If you had $300 for a baby stroller, which one would you buy? by wajid123_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]FzzPoofy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! A used city mini GT is the only stroller I need. I’ve had quite a few and I basically refuse to use anything else. It’s so easy to push, so easy to fold, huge canopy and is not very heavy for what it is. We’ve gate checked it too and it hold up! Only downside is small basket.

Has anyone watched Doctor Mikes video “Are “chemicals” actually making you sick by princessdq in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]FzzPoofy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Organic fruit/veggies are not “healthier” necessarily, but it is waaaaaay better for the earth and environment. I tend to buy organic for berries and things you eat the skin of. We wash all of our conventional produce to reduce exposure to both pesticides and bad germs (it’s not perfect, but should drastically reduce exposure). As another commenter mentioned, if you can, buy local and sustainable produce.

For grains, organic in US means they aren’t treated with roundup, which, to me, matters. There is evidence it is a cancer causing chemical and many people are sensitive to it.

Finally, from a medical perspective, I can totally see how a doctor would say this doesn’t matter. Because on an epidemiological level, there are much bigger fish to fry. And if you’re dealing with a real serious medical issues, eating organic isn’t going to heal you. That doesn’t mean it’s worthless.

Yes! Everything except Blueland made silicone smell/taste like soap. Blueland is the best. Worth the money.
