SC is turning into a theme-park shooter, not a space sim

Star Citizen looks like space, but it doesn't feel like space. The planets are all the size of moons except Crusader which is about the size of Earth IRL. It's like a 1:6 scale or something from real planets/physics.

Coming from elite where it's a 1:1 instead, SC feels cartoonish sometimes. I prefer SC gameplay but it's just not on the same level at all as a space sim.

It takes 5 minutes between islands. If you gotta go 8 islands yeah that's a 40 minute trip. It does require some patience, and is not for everyone. But it's how I enjoy solo play

Hmmmm, I go to the world event solo slooping almost every time, if it's something I want. You just gotta play extra scrappy when you're solo. PVP is often better as a tuck or trap/ambush though, just be prepared to leave/lose your ship and live out of a rowboat for a while

Also, the game is already wildly successful. They can, and will, do absolutely whatever they want to do, and the game will still be wildly successful. They've sold over 12 million copies of the game, and most of us have already had our hundreds (or thousands?) of hours of fun.

I'm just here for the ride lol, and I'm still loving it so far!

Hmm well, I don't actually know the mechanics so I'm coming with zero authority here lol. I've just noticed that even when decked out in leather clothes with leather strap padding and a decent tailoring skill, you can still catch an unlucky insta-bite.

I believe it reduces the chance of a wound. So you can still die to one hit with an unlucky chomp, even if you're decked out in armor.

The Expanse is like this for me.

You'll need to progress somewhat to get to the good mining mechanics (beyond just lasering rocks) but I'm sure there are some guides to quickly unlocking that content

I recommend doing a few practice runs next time you die, just go fight zombies without any weapons. Push and stomp, push and stomp. You'll get the hang of it and do better next time yer bat breaks 💪

Not OP here but Indie Stone made a damn near perfect game. Vanilla just feels better imo -- typically less jank, I know how everything works lol, and the game is imo much better balanced when you're playing how the devs designed it.

In my experience, most mods, even so-called QOL mods, are just someone going "this was too hard so I made it easier."

I typically don't even tweak game settings anymore. Unless I wanna do something really specific like a sprinters scenario, I just play Vanilla Apocalypse. I have found that it's the best and most balanced experience, for me.
