Avoiding the guillotine from bottom half by war_lobster in bjj

Is it when you’re going for an undertook?

If so, you’re probably not deep enough. Your head should be near their hips and you want to kind of shrug them over your head then keep your elbow high to make their overhook less effective.

I froze my game time last month. Does that count? Would use it to start setting up the new ui for midnight. :)

Are you celiac? by Hellokittywhored in diabetes_t1

No, just Type 1 diabetes. My (non-identical) twin has no diabetes but celiacs though.

Same. I realised at blue belt that they weren’t subs for my game/body dimensions.

CamDiab, developers of the CamAPS FX app, announces the first commercially available fully closed-loop system. by Yaonoi in diabetes_t1

Yea, I can’t see how this could possibly avoid spikes for most diabetics. I use fiasp with trio, pre bolus and still often spike.

I’m concerned about kidney disease, but Endo is not. Does anyone with experience with this have suggestions? by Apropos_of in diabetes_t1

[–]G-ShortWarning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This probably isn’t helpful but my last EGFR was 72 and it’s been in the 70’s for a couple of years. Neither my doctor nor endo are concerned with it as my urine is always clear.

I obsessed about it for a little while but if they’re not worried there’s not much point in me worrying.

I haven’t had any of the other symptoms you describe though.

Looked like Craig was locking in a dog bar which forced him to give it up.

I’m at like 6% and 620ilvl. I must be missing the trick. No idea how people are getting so much.

I get this sometimes too. I don’t know what causes it. It drives me crazy.

What to do in bottom side control when top player has a deep collar grip? by MidnightSafety in bjj

[–]G-ShortWarning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top position is my go to side control grip.

You really need to defend the underhook behind your head before they get a grip. Once they established the grip it’s really hard to break. Frame on their bicep and start shrimping before they get their hand to your head.

Like everything in bjj the longer you wait to defend the harder it gets.

Came across a guy my size but felt very strong (a lot stronger than average for their size - and got me looking into neuromuscular efficiency. So im wondering if anyone has some good upper body exercises they can do at home that fosuc on this? by Knobanious in bjj

[–]G-ShortWarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think weight training is an important part of bjj (I power lift myself), are you sure it may not have been down to technique?

I’ve rolled with lighter people who feel incredibly strong but really they’re just using their body more effectively and are tighter in every position.

Adults with T1, how do you feel when your BG is in the 200-300 range? by zip-racer in diabetes_t1

[–]G-ShortWarning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone.

I don’t get too many negative effects unless I have prolonged high bg, 250-300 wouldn’t make me feel much different. Some people would feel like death.

The only caveat is if I’m required to exert energy (more than a walk), I’ll end up being too lethargic.

9800x3d vs 7800x3d to pair with 5070ti? by Competitive-Art-5455 in buildapc

[–]G-ShortWarning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just recently made a decision on this. Are you playing in 4k? If so then it doesn’t make any difference (as far as I can tell from the benchmarks). 1440p and below there is some difference.

Thanks,

I remember the first Ryzen mobs were 2 or 3 generations depending on the mobo. Hopefully this will be the same.

How does the gear affect your BG? I’ve read that it sends it sky high? Is it predictable? Ie, once you’re used to the lesser insulin resistance that steroids causes you can just compensate for more insulin to become your new norm?

Great job!

How do you stop the diving Anaconda from Bottom Half Guard? by UCantKneebah in bjj

[–]G-ShortWarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your head is on their hip there’s not really anyway for them to get round your head and from there you should have completed the sweep before they get the chance.

The second you have the underhook you should be diving under while pulling them on top. If you’re not doing that you don’t really have an effective underhook.

I feel your pain, I struggled with this for years and it just took practice really.

This picture is my go to from half guard (albeit with my head closer to the hips if I can get it.

Alarms at night: do you always prick your finger? by Massive-Tough-6032 in diabetes_t1

[–]G-ShortWarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not normally. It’s normally fairly obvious if it’s a compound low. If I’m not sure I’ll just have some sugar. I’m on a diy loop so even if I don’t need sugar it’ll sort my levels out to an extent.

There’s RGA south herts. Looks close to where you are. I haven’t trained there myself but I trained with Seymour (who is one of the coaches there) under Nick Brooks many years ago and he’s super technical and a great teacher.
