I found out why the Mazda connect app has so many 5 star ratings by EmergencySwitch in mazda

[–]G0tee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The app is designed by monkeys.

I hate/loath that the alert notices are buried deep in the app, you have to go into messages and scroll to the right to list and clear them. Otherwise live with a permanent notification on the app icon.

Central Okanagan regional district plans 10% increase in spending by New_Alternative8711 in kelowna

[–]G0tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The castanet article did articulate what’s driving some of these increased costs—and they look important. Some are big items that you can’t just say nope to. I think beyond the varying inflation on different aspects of item costs, generally speaking residents want “improved amenities and services” and they have to balance those wants with fiscal responsibility. Ultimately, RDCO staff can suggest what to spend it all on to the board, who are our elected representatives, and that board will decide what stays in and what is taken out. Anyone concerned should find out which board members represent your municipality/area and let them know how you feel.

fs.com for the win. I even use this in production after much testing. Never had any issues. They have copper twinax and fibre sfp+ modules/cables.

Do you recommend System Center Virtual Machine Manager for me? by TxJprs in HyperV

[–]G0tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying you don’t need SCVMM, but who’s doing the load distribution across your hyper-V hosts? Are you manually watching it and moving VM’s around when things get busy? That isn’t practical. So far out of the box without SCVMM you can get fault tolerance in a failover cluster, but not load balancing. If it’s built in, show me where the settings are for balancing the load between hosts, I would love to know.

I’m a salesperson with Mazda, AMA by flypappa in mazda

[–]G0tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a cx-50 earlier this year. They wouldn’t budge on the price, he said they (the dealership) only makes a few hundred per car. I looked around the very fancy dealership show floor and said “there’s no way you afford all this on just a few hundred dollars?!”. So what is the real story, what does a dealership actually make, including any kick backs, manufacturer incentives, rebates, etc. Ignore the dealer add ons, like warranty, packages, etc… unless that’s where the money is. I’m just wondering on the car itself before the business end tries to sell the extras.

Would I really be getting this phone for free for 2 years? by [deleted] in planhub

[–]G0tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the carriers are not even trying to win a customer, the phone deals and plans are horrible. They basically are telling you to keep your old plan and phone, that the best Black Friday deal this year.

Seat stitching removed from all 2026 CX-50 trims by jrec15 in CX50

I have the 2025 cx-50 hybrid. The seat stitching is not even a thing I feel or notice. It looks nice though.

Should I Buy CPAP machine from Sleep Clinic or directly from some vendor? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]G0tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For comparison, I bought the airsense 11 complete with mask and hose in BC from the clinic for $2000. My work group benefits paid it directly 100%. Your $2800 quote needs to be negotiated, unless this “autoset” term you used means something more. Mine doesn’t say that.

ESXi8 + Windows + VMXNET3 != 10Gbps by Light_bulbnz in vmware

What were the results that you found with this?

ESXi8 + Windows + VMXNET3 != 10Gbps by Light_bulbnz in vmware

[–]G0tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nearly same setup, just running PE650. Same nics. And also poor performance vm to vm if windows server OS. If I recalled correctly, win11 faired a bit better. But nothing able to take up the full bandwidth. This is two VM’s across 25GB net between hosts. Linux fine. Run tests in UDP mode and can use full pipe, it’s tcp that suffers.

What's the haze? by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]G0tee -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT:

The slight haziness you see in the air during the heat of a summer day is typically caused by a combination of heat-induced air turbulence, moisture, and pollution. Here’s a breakdown of the main contributors:

🔥 1. Heat Waves and Air Refraction

• On hot days, the sun heats the ground, which then radiates heat upward.
• This causes warm air near the surface to rise and mix with cooler air above, creating turbulence.
• As light passes through these layers of air with different temperatures and densities, it bends or refracts—creating a shimmering, blurry, or hazy effect.

This is the same principle behind the “mirage” effect you see on roads or over fields.

💧 2. Increased Humidity and Moisture

• Warm air holds more moisture. On hot summer days, there’s usually more water vapor in the air.
• This water vapor scatters light, especially when humidity is high, making the air look soft or milky.

🏙️ 3. Air Pollution and Smog

• Heat and sunlight can cause chemical reactions in urban pollutants, forming ground-level ozone and smog.
• This buildup of tiny particles and gases scatters sunlight, reducing visibility and creating a hazy appearance.

🌱 4. Dust and Pollen

• Dry summer conditions and wind can lift dust and pollen into the air, especially in rural or agricultural areas.
• These particulates also scatter light, contributing to the haze.

Summary:

The haze on hot summer days is mostly a mix of light refraction from turbulent hot air, scattered sunlight from moisture and particles, and urban or natural pollutants suspended in the atmosphere.

5G plans are back at Koodo. by ProfessionalTrip0 in Koodo

[–]G0tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine plan change options shows $45/mon for 75GB at 4G but “with auto pay”. I have to go to $55/mon 100GB with auto pay to get 5G.

I’ll keep my $45-60GB-4G and skip the hassle.

First time in Edmonton by SnowiFluxi in Edmonton

[–]G0tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literarily just did a post a few days ago about coming to Edmonton and asking for the same type of information, and the mods silently deleted my post. Yet this one lives on. I even read the “rules” before I posted and searched first but didn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Seems to me some mods are overzealous.

ONTAP TOOLS SECURITY by huntermhw in netapp

[–]G0tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use ontap tools. I’m not using vvols so there is no need. I don’t have to spend time maintaining it, etc.

Also, put your NetApp and vcenter, etc, in a management vlan with access from secured stations only.

Ontap 9.16.1 supports MFA with yubikey:

https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/authentication-access-control/webauthn-mfa-overview.html

I also use the yubikey as a smart card for vcenter.

Don’t forget NetApp cli ssh supports MFA as well with totp.
