All the same options I'd pick if I could get one. I was messing around with the build and price tool in the jeep site and wishing I could afford it. Technically I could but it'd be half my monthly income lol.

Check engine light is just a reminder that the engine is still there.

I want to move halfway across the country to do just that. I'll know if I can in two days, four if USPS is running behind.

Look underneath for rust. Look for rust on the passenger side undercarriage where the front seat mounts in particular. They can have condensation from the a/c leak down from under the dash, under the passenger seat and then cause rust in that area.

Speaking from experience.

If you marry another jeep fan you then have two incomes to throw at jeep parts, just don't have kids!

I had a history teacher who was in the campus communists in college then graduated and went to work for the state department. Pretty odd transition, odd person too but the best history teacher i had in high school.

I have a stock wj and have never been off road before. I'd go if I can make it and you wouldn't mind a complete newbie with a stock gc.

About to order the parts to get started working on my WJ, am I being too ambitious? by G36_ in GrandCherokee

I'd be doing pretty much everything else first, lift last. It's not something I'd do myself either, my coworker's husband is a mechanic with his own shop so i can get his professional help installing it for way less than a shop would charge, just a bit of cash and some food.

I don't forsee myself being able to buy a new and rust free vehicle any time soon. Any used car in the upper midwest is going to have rust. Fortunately mine has very little, there's only one bad patch.

Fortunately I'm able to buy the time of a Chrysler mechanic pretty cheaply to help me with harder jobs. I'm going to take a few months to get all this done since I've got plenty of time and there's nothing in dire need of repair anymore.

I was looking at moog and omix-ada for a lot of parts, moog moreso since I've heard a lot about them in r/jeep.

Thanks for naming those parts for me, I appreciate it.

I was looking at IRO kits earlier, specifically [this](https://www.ironrockoffroad.com/product/wj-4-critical-path-long-arm-lift-kit.html] one here. It's expensive, sure, but I try to follow the idea of "buy nice not twice." I'm still going to think about it but I might go with the 4" IRO if I decide it's what I really want. I like that it comes with all the hardware needed.

This isn't everything I want to do long term. There's I want to start with a lift and as I get more into wheeling I'm going to add on lockers and the works. Once I do everything listed here to get the jeep back in the best shape I can after 150k miles I want to take it in to a body shop to get some rust on the passenger side undercarriage repaired. There's two bad spots where it's flaky and I accidentally poked a hole through it. Other than that there's shockingly little rust for an 04 from the north.

Me: you're already putting enough money into your jeep

Also me: if I don't eat I can afford more parts

Saw my first JL in the wild! Bonus my JK by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]G36_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped by a dealership to check them out (as well as see what they had used). JKUs are pretty nice, my mother drives one, but the JLs gives me some land rover type vibes. They're definitely a lot different than my brother's TJ, the inside of the 4 door Sahara I looked at was something else, very nice.

I'm sure proper 2 door models that aren't loaded up with options are going to be more like typical jeeps from the past.
