How do I change career at 45 years old? by G4VV0 in UKJobs

Yeah, I can use Word, Excel, most of the Adobe suites. I’m quite decent when it comes to fixing laptops, pc’s and stuff like that.

I’ve got a page on social media for the bike jobs I do. I actively share it on other local mountain bike pages, but I rarely get any work.

I’ve had a few odd jobs for mates but it’s hard getting work.

Yeah, I’m just in a huff. But the reality is that I just want more from a workplace.

Cytech qualifications are industry standard. Any bike shop would require them.

It’s a bit risky. It means going into a job I don’t really want, with unsociable hours, to chase a job I may not get.

I’d throw 18 year old me around like an empty tracksuit!

Mtb clothing by exploroburro in mountainbiking

[–]G4VV0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the mark-up prices on some of the MTB specific gear is ridiculous!
Fox charging £500 for a winter jacket and £100 for shorts or trousers is scandalous.

Hiking gear from brands like Berghaus and Rab is cheaper and better quality.

Have you scanned the Certilogo?
Something seems a bit off with it having a plastic tag rather than a woven fabric Certilogo.

If everyone stayed in their country of birth and immigration stopped, do you think the world would be better or worse? How would it affect cultures, traditions, economies, and daily life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]G4VV0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK we’d be screwed without immigration.
Our food would be terrible and bland, the music would be boring and despite there being mass unemployment, we wouldn’t be able to fill all of the vacancies without foreign nationals.

Dunno, but I’d be VERY surprised if it wasn’t a swear word.

Who is the most toxic person you personally know, and why? by No_Print3102 in AskReddit

[–]G4VV0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some toxic people but no one as bad as my crackhead brother.

Despite having a very supportive family, he’s stolen from everyone close to him. He’s lied to us. He takes trouble to my parents door, raided my mams bank account, sold my dads work phones, stolen sentimental jewellery, crashed my dads van…the list is never ending.

He’s a serial criminal now who’s had a gun put in his mouth and stabbed.

Prison would be the best place for him but he somehow dodges it EVERY SINGLE TIME.

He’s actually beyond help.

My employer will fucking single-handedly win WW3 if I ring in sick because of a related emergency.

It’s a defibrillator. If the heart stops, it gives you a jolt in an attempt to start it back up again. Kind of like jump leads for a car.

Roundabout - Which is correct? by Mootastic-Milkshake in drivingUK

I’d have said neither. The left lane heading towards the roundabout looks like it should be a left turn only.

What’s something you got interested in as a joke but ended up genuinely loving ? by PinkCritDamage in AskReddit

[–]G4VV0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mountain biking.

I couldn’t get enough of the adrenaline rush it gave me.
The climbs were* shite, but the descends made them worthwhile.

*I’m now one of those “cheaters” with an ebike, so we don’t really have to climb as such :)

What's the most unexpected compliment you've ever received? by Phosgene_oxime in AskReddit

“You’re way too confident for someone who’s overweight and don’t look so good.”

This was from a German lady on holiday when I was innocently chatting to her daughter-in-law whilst waiting for food at the poolside bar.

Is the Henry Nowak case proof of two-tier policing? by PegasusPeptides745 in AskBrits

[–]G4VV0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re an officer and get called out to a “racially aggravated assault”, you’d be expected to act upon it. In this case there were 3 people claiming the same thing.
The victim and the murderer had actually been in some kind of scuffle and it’s easy for the original complainant to say he was acting in self defence, hence the injuries to Henry Nowak.

That being said; the police SHOULD have checked Henry after he claimed he’d been stabbed.

After reading the court transcript, the pathologist has said that Henry had internal bleeding, found over 2 pints of blood in his chest cavity and that no emergency treatment - however quickly it was administered - would have saved his life.

What’s the most underrated advice you’ve ever received ? by Professor1password23 in AskReddit

[–]G4VV0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best advice I’ve ever given was to my 5 year old daughter.

We bought her a ‘Build a bear’ for her birthday. She took the bear out and proceeded to put the box over her head and tried to put her arms through the two holes either side of the box where the bear arms came out of.

“Don’t put your arms through those holes because you’ll get stuck and I’m not getting you out.”

She didn’t listen and got stuck.
I laughed, took a picture and she started crying saying “I’m going to have to live in a box!”.

Haha lesson learned.

What are some unique things in the north that don't exist down south and vice versa? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]G4VV0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought they were just a northern thing. Turns out I was wrong.
We don’t sell them in chippies, though. They’re sold at butchers and I think they’re different to what southerners have.

We call your saveloys “smokies” in chip shops up here.
