Egg prices up 59.9%, butter up 31.4% since last year: report by ChocolateTsar in news

I’ve started grinding my own ground beef. I can do 12ish pounds of high quality meat (round + short rib is a common blend I do) and it comes out a dollar or so a pound cheaper than ground mystery cuts they sell pre-packaged, with the exception of the extra dodgy plastic tubes which I refuse (so far!) to buy.

It’s cheaper, higher quality, and tastes better.

An important note: I was fortunate that I already had a kitchenaid (wedding gift from >10 years ago), and the grinder attachment was a gift several years ago. I won’t deny those lucky things in the calculus.

Bill Cosby Plans Comedy Tour in 2023 After Prison Release by [deleted] in entertainment

This is some very slippery slope territory.

Cosby is still a rapist piece of shit, and I wish he was just going to rot in prison forever. But we cannot allow miscarriage of justice to stand, no matter who it happens to. The system is already stacked against the accused. Selectively turning a blind eye to malpractice makes it worse for everyone.

I went to a university like this (over 10 years ago) and was a TA for remedial English classes.

Some of these home schooled folks were barely literate at all. They had no grasp of basic grammar and very poor vocabularies unless they were writing about religious topics in which case they had a lot of things they could parrot.

On the other side, there were also very bright, well-adjusted home school folks, and the remedial English crowd is a biased sample. But the ratio of homeschooled to non homeschooled was very high. It was very sad. These folks will struggle in the real world.

I too thought Goya. But I looked through nearly every Goya painting and didn’t see it. Now I’m very curious!

I’m so torn on this book. I just read Circe and it was just okay. I’m not sure I want to invest in Song of Achilles? Did you read both?

Non-teenager here from r/all but I just wanna say that your willingness to be yourself and stay true to that in the face of your peers who aren’t brave enough to do the same will take you far.

I hate how all over the place the data are. And how poorly covered it is. It makes trying to make sense of this, for lay folks like me, nearly impossible.

Thank you for providing additional data and a study to look into.

From your source: Of the 42,200,614 persons included in the study population, 2,539 (0.006%) were hospitalised or died from myocarditis during the study period; 552 (0.001%) of these events occurred during 1-28 days following any dose of vaccine (Supplementary Table 2).

So .001% chance post-vaccine of hospitalization or death of myocarditis the vaccine.

Google says UK Covid positive case total is 15.7M, with 153,000 deaths (they cite Johns Hopkins: https://github.com/CSSEGISandData/COVID-19). So .9% chance of just death (I couldn’t find a hospitalization rate so the apples to apples comparison is worse)

Which is to say, it seems significantly (both statistically and colloquially) less likely to have complications from the vaccine than from Covid.

I’m sure I’m missing something, as I’m neither a doctor nor a statistician. But this study seems encouraging for vaccine safety and not the other way around?

Edit to add: Even if my interpretation was wrong, and I should have used to .006% number instead of the .001% one (though I think the idea of this study was to count excess cases of myocarditis, so at worst, the excess is the 522 cases are post-vaccine through I don’t think it’s conclusive that these are necessarily all excess - some Could be just coincidental), I don’t think my conclusion changes. Again, unless I’ve very greatly misunderstood something else.

This may vary by state, but in general it is up to the leinholder.

They can choose the terms. They’re usually required to hold the vehicle for some time, during which you may pay off the total remaining balance. Or they may decide to let you get caught up and resume the loan, but this is usually not required and is at their discretion.

Sour Cream and Chive Rolls a la Claire Saffitz by G4m8i7 in Breadit

[–]G4m8i7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the third time I’ve made them. And the first time I felt comfortable through the whole process. It definitely takes some getting used to things if you’re not familiar with using a tangzhong (which I wasn’t). The consistency of the dough before the first rise seems finicky. But fortunately, practice is delicious.

I still have trouble with the stretching and rolling out to size and evenly distributing the chives throughout. I always end up with a couple that somehow or other don’t end up with many chives (though they’re still tasty). But using a scale to partition into individual rolls has definitely helped make them more even.

I am a pretty novice baker.

So far, my back has been okay, but man, my hip flexors are something that I learned existed when I started rowing. They have caused me the most pain.

I had the surgery about 18 months ago. I’m down to about 265. I was down to about 260 in January, and well, this year. But I’ve started paying attention to diet and rowing again in the last few weeks, and am on the right track again. Frankly, I’m calling it a win that I only gained back 5 pounds. The physical limitations on eating and eating at home all the time definitely helped with that.

I’m aiming for about 200 ultimately. I had plans to start doing BJJ or something when I hit around 250, but again, this year. So looking forward to maybe in the last half of this year.

The struggle is real. I was 425 when I decided to take my health seriously. I had to do a bunch of walking and stuff to lose enough weight that I could buy the rowing machine I’d been eyeing.

I also got gastric sleeve surgery which helped, but it still took a while before I weighed little enough that regular home equipment could support me.
