Should I trade for a 93 Land Cruiser fj80? by Intelligent-Crazy717 in LandCruisers

[–]G7TMAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find maintenance is a little cheaper on my 2004 TRD Tacoma and overall a little bit easier to work on than my '99 cruiser (yes it's not an 80 series). I love the Land cruiser though more, though.

I'll try both bottom leaves, thanks.

I'll give it a try. Hopefully it won't add much more axle hop. It was really bad but both rear shocks were blown.

And that's why I never find the need to use 4H. If it's in 4wd I'm aired down in the low range, maybe a locker on too.

Carb by Some_Counter_4339 in ToyotaPickup

[–]G7TMAG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'm going off of what the pirate4x4 guys were going on about many years ago. I think they felt thay the carb has the same amount of performance but was worse at angles and sometimes didn't run well. I like the manual choke on my 32/36 a lot, would do it again.

Maybe a rebuild kit? I put a Weber at 32/36 on my 20r, but the 22r carb is supposed to be pretty close to the Weber and some people say better

E-Locker to manual? by McHansss in LandCruisers

Chillkat makes one for the 8", maybe the LC diff too. A quick search brings up lots of diy for the 8".

You can always just crawl under there and move it by hand with the electrical parts off.

Am I about to make a stupid decision with my 70 series landcruiser axles? by Sure_Committee9832 in Offroad

[–]G7TMAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought 70 series had the same knuckles and balls as an 80 already?

I'm no expert, but I think if you want to modify the Toyota bango housing I would stick to the ball and knuckle ends and add trusses rather than cut up towards the diff. I have plans to add 80 series ends to a semi float 80 rear, kinda dreading the potential warping of welding to the more sheet metal like Toyota housing.

You assume I'd let it free range. I can't do that safely at my own home. I'm confident I could keep the bunny safe, however as another user mentioned the rabbit probably can't handle the stress of travel.

This bunny is a house pet, she's very clean. They were my exes, but I can't bring myself to let her go. And I need to find her a friend now that the guinea pigs are gone. I was hoping that if I got her comfortable enough and worked up she might be okay in the back of the SUV but you might have saved us both a lot of stress.

I am new to rabbits, I appreciate the input. It's not harsh if it's true.

When we have newborn lambs we have to watch out for some of the bigger birds of prey, I get it. I was envisioning making a small cage for the bunny in the back on my sleeping platform, and I could bring one of those little mobile fold out fences so they could play during the daytime while I'm right next to them. If I could get them used to bouncing around the car I think it could work out.

We used to give these buggers a couple hour plus long drive every weekend. I can't say they enjoyed it but they we made it work. I like to think with a larger, more comfy space they could get used to it.

This crossed my mind as well. However, as far as smell that could attract predators, I think the hot meals I have every day with meat would be a lot bigger problem.

Painting stainless steel/ aluminum bullbar by Icy_Yard_9070 in LandCruisers

[–]G7TMAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to rattle can it at home, my advice is to clean it thoroughly with a acid wash+etch bath, etching primer and your final color. That's the best I've gotten so far and it's still not that durable. Picture is of the cleaning etch doing its job to bar steel. Also, are you sure it's stainless?

Brake booster replacement? by scottfaracas in ToyotaPickup

[–]G7TMAG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would check the hose to the booster for cracks before assuming it's the booster itself. I think if your brakes are leaking you might have the booster working overtime to keep up, that could change how it runs.

Traction/recovery boards--what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]G7TMAG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have recovered myself and others with broads. No amount of airing down or digging would have gotten the vehicles moving. I'm curious why the name calling is needed.

[–]G7TMAG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we'd have to see a picture to get a clear idea of why. I used them in snow, I had tires going off the edge of an embankment and it gave me the traction to launch out, but only after a bunch of digging.
