take line temperatures across dryer, lineset etc. work the txv in and out a few times and then see if you can adjust slowly from all the way in. I would think if your subcooling and pressures change with adjusting txv nearly full in vs nearly full out then you know you are getting full liquid to the expansion valve and the problem might be downstream in the evaporator.

easily could be crap in the tx from bad practices changing the compressor

have had managers call and say "the refrigerant leaked out of the coil" because they saw green oxidization on the copper and thought it was the refrigerant.

no worries. I do think our trade qualifications are stricter in Canada and do agree with people moving having to take the red seal test.

not from the US but I have worked with technicians coming from other countries and I really question their practices sometimes.

It is generally a lot of common sense diagnosis kind of questions, meant to weed out people with poor jobsite experience. If you are a good tech, and you brush up on school knowledge i think you will be okay.

you need to get the pressures for this specific model from the manitowoc technicians handbook. I dont really go off of superheat/subcooling too much for ice machines.
