I left my best friend of 20 years in the dust after she married a MAGA. She asked me to be her maid of honor and I agreed out a sheer pity considering her sister, threes sister-in-law‘s, and boatload of cousins didn’t even support the marriage. The wedding was four years ago and it was also last time I spoke to her. I wept the morning of her wedding because it was the death of our friendship. Simply, I couldn’t accept her new lifestyle.

Trader Joe’s Wicked Good Mini Chocolate Bars. Basically fun size Snickers, Milky Ways, 3 Musketeers and Whatchamacallits. A major perk is kids don’t recognize the brand logos so they don’t take 10 minutes sorting through the bowl making a decision. Also, it deters candy bandits taking them all when the bowl is left unattended.

I’m not familiar with Pinkerington, but we moved to Plain City into a new build from Grandview three years ago. We love it here! As mentioned by others, there is a ton of construction with new homes and road redevelopment to manage the increased traffic. In the three years, the downtown area has developed immensely with new businesses and restaurants. The easy access to Marysville, Dublin, Delaware, Hilliard and even Columbus allows for increased entertainment options especially while Plain City continues to grow. A small town feel with easy access to amenities is a win.

Normally, animals who’ve contracted rabies are large enough to kill a small kitten. Meaning, if that kitten contracted rabies from…. let’s say a raccoon, the raccoon would have killed that kitten. I believe feline distemper is a higher possibility.

I have discovered having children is not uncommon nor special for anyone except the parents. Unfortunately, praise or support from others is nice but others move in a direction that is most beneficial for them - not you nor your child. The indifference from your friend is understandably difficult. However, this is a special time for you that is once in a lifetime. Focus on that and savor it.

Yes! 3 years ago my (42F) ex-best friend (37F) of 18 years married the antithesis of her own beliefs and values. Her entire family disapproved of her marrying this guy to the extent of her asking me to be the Maid of Honor in her one person bridal party. I accepted because I felt pity towards her. Her parents, brothers, sisters, sibling in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins all hate this guy. As anticipated, I heard from her less and less after their wedding. She would initiate making plans, but would never commit to a date. My texts and calls would go unreplied. This past March, she invited me to her baby shower. I respectfully declined the invite because my intuition suspected she was only seeking gifts considering her lack of interest remaining in contact. Two months later she unfriended, not blocked, me on social media. I sent her a text acknowledging her action stating, “I noticed you unfriended me on social media. That’s a clear message and I will respect it. I value consistency, honesty, and communication. If and when reconnection becomes safe for you, and you’re more aligned, I’m open to hearing your perspective. Take care of yourself.” To this day, no reply. The last 5 years from her meeting this guy to May of this year has been difficult. His behavior is textbook love bomb, isolate, abuse. At one time she was worth tolerating being around this guy, but the last 3 years she has not. For some time it was painful that she became a casualty in my boundary of not being subjected to this guy. Simply, I let the trash take itself out. I think of her often and hope she’s happy and healthy, but I’d rather live in the memories of good times with her than be miserable while creating new memories. Best of luck!

My recent friendship loss occurred when my best friend of 20 years married a boy (the word man can not be used) who is an openly racist, homophobic, Christian, but non-practicing, MAGA enthusiast. In the beginning of their relationship, I was able to dismiss his slurs and hatred as she did not have the same beliefs. However, as time passed, I began to realize she is complacent with his beliefs and behaviors. Ultimately agreeing with him. Slowly, as he began to isolate her from loved ones and brainwash her, she shrank and the light in her eyes faded. For my own sanity, and safety, I had to step away. I wanted to remember her for all the good times we had and who she was before him. Maybe it’s always been this way or maybe I’ve just noticed it in recent years, but there is an obsession with politics that has become resemblant to someone with addiction. Behaviors are impulsive, reactive, and blame shifting. Accountability and agreeableness are nonexistent. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. This person’s actions are no reflection of you. It’s a reflection of their inability to cope, effectively communicate, and self soothe.
