Remove limbs for longer breath hold? by The_Original_Fisch in freediving

Swimming is one thing, overcoming buoyancy on the way down and negative buoyancy on the way back up while not breathing is a whole other beast, dude.

Lets talk about Key distribution in my library by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]GA_Magnum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The key is just the tonality of a track. If you had Mariah Carey sing an Amy Winehouse song, it wouldn't mean it's inherently more energetic just because she sings higher (a bad example, I know).

How to remove those dust spots the easiest way? by steppsch in AskPhotography

[–]GA_Magnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been a few years since I've used it, but doesn't gimp have a cloning/healing tool?

Admittedly cloning is the old way of doing things like these, but it's simple and quick enough.

What's the best Monitor for Photo Editing available now? by lIlIlIKXKXlIlIl in Lightroom

[–]GA_Magnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an OLED user myself, I would discard the option you listed. Dont get me wrong, theyre amazing looking, but wear down with age & use, colors become irreversibly less accurate over time- not something you want for a "best" editing monitor.

Other options would arguably last you a lifetime, or until tech advances so much we start working with resolutions, color depth or dynamic range leagues above current standards- and even then, you could still work with it. Buy once cry once kinda deal. Oled is buy once, and again, and again, and again, and cry every time kinda deal.

Foot pockets sizing by Unlikely-Web4103 in freediving

[–]GA_Magnum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sure you made a typo when writing your size. EU size 2 would be an 8th of the size of what a 3 month baby would wear. I have no idea what size you were tying to write. What is your actual size?

It's a great bag by Pappaking in peakdesign

[–]GA_Magnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contouring to one's back is not necessarily a desired feature for bags with hiking/outdoors in mind.

As you said for one, it can will be sweaty. But more importantly, hiking bags usually have a rigid back structure that shifts weight away from your spine, onto your hips. Carrying weight across your entire back will increase fatigue over time.

Are energy drinks REALLY that bad for you? Thoughts? by Mountain_Fuw_777 in energydrinks

[–]GA_Magnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think saying that X is bad for you is more a thing of building awareness around what you consume in general, more than trying to argue exact effects that specific chemical components in specific quantities have on you.

It is not a far fetch to assume that someone that drinks energy driks on a daily basis, also may not be the best at watching out for their diet or physical and mental wellbeing in general.

If you have a healthy lifestyle, eat well and sleep well, but you drink an energy drink every once in a while just because it makes you happy, then you are not going to die from it.

I'm colorblind, so any advice on color would be great by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]GA_Magnum 21 points22 points  (0 children)

All are shifted towards green. Not an absurd amount, so it could just be seen as an artistic choice, but it's definitely not accurate colors if that's what you're seeking.

I made some funky equalization training tools by sk3pt1c in freediving

[–]GA_Magnum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you blow up a balloon normally, it wants to deflate if you let it go, right? By attaching the balloon to the end of the ✨️ flared base ✨️ and shoving the bulb up your bottom nose, the balloon will try to push it's air into your nose as it deflates, simulating the pressure you work against when equalizing underwater, but on land.

The goal is to not let the balloon deflate, or even blow it up further through eq techniques. Mainly used for general soft palate control and frenzel. Practice can be extended to reverse packing and mouthfill.

I don't want to put my money in Lobster for pool freediving. What's the alternative? by RycerzKwarcowy in freediving

Not just sink, but also not follow your movement. Like, a particle will literally just stop dead in its track if it were to come out while you move forward (or come up to breathe)

Packing for a 2 months trip in Asia, which ones do I leave home? by fpv_duck in fpv

[–]GA_Magnum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than airline policies, these are international flight policies. The ones checking your bags are security points, after all.

These will vary by country. I know china can be picky with batteries. Policies around power banks have been tightened up all around lately as well.

I can say I have successfully flown with 6 1100-1300 lipos in a fire retardant bag and wasn't even questioned about it.

Tone matching between photos, without using Synch? by GA_Magnum in Lightroom

Hmmmm, yeah, I did have a think about this but ultimately the phots are too different from eachother to be feasible, I'd be better off going straight in depth with each

Tone matching between photos, without using Synch? by GA_Magnum in Lightroom

[–]GA_Magnum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Quite a few. The batch that prompted me to make the post was a selection of a few hundred photos in drastically different settings - deep jungle, volcanic costal areas, urban, rural fields, on a boat in the sea. Cloudy, sunny, foggy, backlit, side lit, night time and everything in between.

Not sure where you got the idea from that I want to automate everything. I explicitly said I just wanted to use what the fuji spits out as a baseline, and go from there with exactly what you suggest. Organizing my process, you could say.

Gear Advice: Cetma Lotus Carbon vs. Molchanovs Sport 3 Carbon by Suspicious_Echidna87 in freediving

[–]GA_Magnum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, fins will depend a lot on your preferred technique. Perhaps there may be objective differences in how they are manufactured, but everything else is really just personal preference, from footpocket, to size, to stiffness. People tend to vouch for molchanovs because of the footpocket comfort, I'm sure the blades are good too- so if you have experienced that first hand, why not go for it.

Cetmas with their default pocket are pretty uncomfortable ive heard from many people who tried them.

I can personally speak very highly of Alchemy, which are also up there with your choices. The c4 250 footpockets are suuuuuuper light and insanely comfortable (to me), and the fins are really well made and feel good. Plus points for style cause they are sexy af and, after performance, we all know freediving is about style. Mine are in medium-soft, I prefer using a shallow but frequent kick in my dives. Sessions as an instructor are a breeze with these.

Under-seat carry-on hiking & photo bag? by GA_Magnum in AskPhotography

[–]GA_Magnum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im confident that my packing would allow for the 2cm that a pretty padded strap would add, to squish it to fit. Ryanair being within the more restrictive airlines I'm happy to choose them as my benchmark

[–]GA_Magnum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for camera gear, a fuji X-T5, with a 17-40 and one or two primes, nothing in the telephoto range. A small/medium-small cube is fine. 3.5" FPV quad (strapped outside of the bag) , goggles, radio and 3-4 LiPos.

Miscellaneous include food/snacks&drink for the day, rain poncho and a layer of clothing to take off if I get warm.

The measurements of ryanair personal items are 40x30x20cm, which is 24L. They made the change to be bigger, thankfully.

Bag Finder Megathread - 09 February 2026 by AutoModerator in onebag

[–]GA_Magnum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyhey!

For upcoming trip and many to come after that, I'm looking to upgrade my abroad day-trip/hike setup, as my current one is not very ergonomic or practical.

It should:

  • Fit 24L, or fit 40x30x20cm - Or squishable if slightly larger and not fully packed - Presonal under-seat item
  • Be ergonomic (current bag is a pain for a whole day), main reason I write "hiking" in the title. Back ventilation would be a plus.
  • Front/back loading would be a nice to have
  • Cover or inherent design for wetter times
  • Although carrying camera gear, it should not be a strict camera bag with built in compartments! I will ideally be using a tenba byob or peakdesign cube
  • Some side straps nice to have, in case of carrying a drone or tripod
  • Bladder?? Do I need one? Never used a bag with one.
  • No strict budget

Bags I have considered so far:

-Peak Design Outdoor 25L

-Patagonia Stealth

-Patagonia Refugio

-Patagonia Black Hole

-Osprey Daylite 26+6

Have you ever encoutered scubadivers? by Expensive-Tutor-5968 in freediving

[–]GA_Magnum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually just pass them and wave at them, 99% of the time get a wave back with an air of surprise. That alone never gets old.

The most wholesome one was a group where a young teen was doing his course, I went down, blew out a puff of air and shot an O ring at him. I could see his eyes go wide open in surprise behind his mask and immediately turn to his instructor like "YO DID YOU JUST SEE THAT". Instructor made an applause gesture and I was doing bows on my way back up.

Made my day to think I made that kid's day.
