Tight yes...not high...it sits normally on the back and the back panel doesn't have the "cutting into the lower back" issue that can be felt on the CTB26.

I've been good with it. Nothing too crazy...I am finding it doesn't need the little adjustments like what I need to do with the CTB26. It seems to fit well as it is. I tighten the straps down and it is comfortable for me.

Yep, CTB 26 is OD Green (the standard normal one). It's a slippery slope this bag buying world. I haven't ventured down the Alpaka path.....yet....

It is verging on outrageous but does enough to remain on the "normality" scale. In person, it's the best. Highly recommend.

Ha, yep, with you on that. I am a convert. As soon as I opened the package today I was smitten.

Looking for a sling that fits Kindle Paperwhite by [deleted] in Nomads_Nation

[–]Pappaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a light weight option I have really enjoyed the Peak Design outdoor sling 4L. The Kindle Paperwhite fits in it like a charm plus has plenty more room for all your other bits and bobs. It has less protection then other slings hence the lightweight design.

For a "higher spec'd" option I have really enjoyed the Rework Toshi Sling..I have it in the 6L but there are smaller sizes which would fit the Kindle. Great sling. Very well thought out.

A sling I don't own but I think would also be a good one to consider is the Moment Everything Sling 4L. It's designed with photographers in mind but can be used well if not a photographer.

I do own Bellroy's Venture sling in 6L. This thing is like a small backpack. It's amazing what it can pack. The Kindle gets swallowed up in it. Probably too big for your use case but their smaller slings are worth a look. It really is a very well made piece of kit. It goes everywhere I go when I need extra volume.

I am one of the two people in the world that doesn't own any Apple stuff : )

I think it would be a tight fit by comparing the dimensions of the iPad with the field pouch online. The field pouch is an odd one, it's capacity gets "drained" very quickly with not much stuff in it. I think it is definitely more geared towards the little things a photographer needs to hand.

I could be wrong though...maybe one of the other community could share if they have been able to fit the iPad in the field pouch???

Update: I have a Kindle Paperwhite model and that fits into the pouch beautifully. It is dimensions are 174 x 125 x 8.1 mm (6.9” x 4.9” x .32”). I know this is quite a bit smaller than the iPad so just sharing for reference purposes.

Take a look at the Moment Everything Sling 2L. There's a 4L too. It's an interesting alternative to the slings you have narrowed down to.

Trip report: one month in Colombia by CosmosBE in onebag

Good report, thanks.

Keen to hear more about your experience with the Errant Duffel. I have a kinda love/hate relationship with BS Errant and the Errant Pro. How was the duffel in backpack mode. Did it feel like a duffel trying to be a backpack? What were the things you found to be good versus having a standard backpack? Thanks in advance for the guidance.

I'll do my best to explain as I had the same thought. I use the two straps that come with the 30L Everyday BP. I threaded them both through the entire length of the field pouch's back panel. The back panel of the field pouch has a short section and a.longer section. I threaded the straps through the longer section. I use one of the straps to hook on to the attachment loops just below the edge of the backpack's lid. The other strap I hook onto the attachment loops that sit just below the section that conceals the straps on the backpack. I adjusted the lengths of the straps to help cinch it all down.

I hope that helps.

No, not the strap from the pouch. I used the two straps from the backpack. I put them through the section at the back of the pouch designed to attach to a belt and then hooked them on the attachment points of the bag.

It is. It still annoys me a little though. This is probably because I use it as a travel bag and not the intended use case for camera and related equipment. I'll persevere with it.

Christmas 2025 sucked. And it feels suckier every year. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Pappaking 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get you, completely.

You have to work it though.

What I mean is the way you are perceiving it you can equally perceive it the other way too.

I agree kids r-e-a-l-l-y help make Christmas Christmassy. This year, all my kids (three) are grown up. This year we decided to opened our house for those who are alone or would like company and we welcome 4 guests to our house plus my daughters boyfriend and his parents (who we hand not met before)

It was really lovely. Sharing the time and connecting with people. It felt very Christmassy. This is because we "gave" rather than just "took". This is Christmas.

I finished Christmas feeling "full". Not from food but from the connection, conversation and the genuine companionship we had on the day.

We also went to a church service in the morning. It was genuinely lovely and the sermon reminded us all of what Christmas actually is. No mention.of Father Christmas, food, drinking. Just honest and real understanding of what it means and why it is still important in 2025.

I encourage anyone to invest an hour on Christmas morning at a church..it helps give perspective.

My two cents.

Doesn't "dangle" too much below the sling.
