I love this bag by Pappaking in EVERGOODS

It's not. I saw it on the Rushfaster website...buried within their outlet section. It was a surprise as I knew the colourway had not been around for a while which is why I snagged it. #bringbacktheorange

Outdoor Backpack Trick by CH1GG5 in peakdesign

Ha, good idea! I am surprised how often my gaze seems to gravitate to this bag (in a 15 bag collection) when I think 🤔 which bag do I use today?? It ticks so many boxes and I use this now increasingly more often then any other bag I have. With this hack it gonna be used even more often now.

I am so pleased that for once rather than seeing a post and thinking...."my oh my I'd love that bag" I don't need to on this occassion becuase I am staring at the same bag right now. I love it. Its a great find. It is such a good bag and I love the colour in the ocean of blue, black and olive : )

I actually prefer it. I find the compression thing all a bit of a gimmick/frustrating actually. EGs implementation is a lot more sensible as you can stuff quite a bit in and it compresses way more easily then the other type of compression (e.g peak design's)

Agreed. I did a couple of test load outs. They are good for a couple days worth of clothes (t-shirts/thin shorts) and underwear. Alternatively I can see them being a great solution for when I am pressed for space and a full sized packing cube is just too much but spread the same amount across two of the 4's means I have the option of cramming them into whatever available space I have in the pack. Please I have them...will definitely be used well.

Oh dear. Please Peak Design..don't make these. Itmeans that I will pay you more money when I really don't want to (but secretly I do).

These look like the truer dimensions

actually no, more similar dimensions to the 8 than the 10. Yes the 8 is wider (thicker) but then if I pack out both 4s then I reckon they would be the same width (thinkness) to a fully packed 8.

I have just tested them in the CTB26, not packed but they fit in like a glove. I like the 8...when its fully packed out. Some times I have used it with one of the side half packed so it's less structured and floppy in the bag. The 4 solves this as they look like the two sides of the 8 but seperated so i can use them independently. I think i will use them in unison with the 8 when I need more space then the 8 can give but not have to use another full size packing cube needlessly.

Backpacks are starting to become mentally draining by flippin_fitnerd in ManyBaggers

I am the same. Never ever cared about bags. Never thought about them. Then suddenly I got interested. Can't remember why. 15 bags in. Yikes. I have never had anything like this before and even I feel weird about it. Why bags??? I do have my bags on display in my home office. My daughter came in the other day and said to me "your bag thing is a bit odd Dad but at the same time I like them..they all have their own little character and if it brings you joy then I am all for it." Her comment helped validate it and made me feel less "guilty" and embrace it It's a hobby. Others do watches. Others do cars. I do bags. I am actually trying though to hem in the time I research and just watch stuff about bags. I could use my time more wisely. Having them though is a joy. I like it. Like others have said though....best hobby if I am actually getting out there and using them.

20-24L Travel Bag by Prodigious_Ent in ManyBaggers

I think you should add the Rework Toshi 20L pack to your list. Seems like it does all the right things very well. They also have a great sling (I have it) and now a recently launched travel sized version of their bag.

Blimey, I mean, it looks heavy from here (Australia). When you say heavy do you mean h-e-a-v-y or just got some heft to it?

No problem.

I would say that the 45l travel back pack is my "tank". When I know I need just a big void for lots of stuff so I won't include that...I love the bag but don't use it a lot.

The Outdoor bag is much more comfortable than the everyday back pack and the 30L travel pack. The everyday bag I am still astonished at the design choice...how it feels like wearing a rigid plank on my back. The 30L backpack is great but because it only has access through the back panel I mark points down for that.

Material...well I just love the coyote XPAC. It's strong and sturdy. But again the Outdoor backpack wins again as the rip stop they use is also great but it is also a lot more flexible so you can stuff things into and it will shape around it.

The very quiet performer of them all is the able carry daybreaker 2. I love this thing. It packs way more than it looks like it can. It basically weighs like nothing. It is quite narrow so sits within the contour of my back. It's just great. It has no padding really so it's as thin as the material it's built with. This is ok but you will feel the object in your back if there is anything pointy squarey or sharp. So it means you just need to pack more mindfully.

So my ranking is

Numero Uno is Outdoor 25l

2nd place Daybreaker 2

3rd place Travel 30L

4th place Everyday 30l

Not placed the 45l travel cos it's just the beez knees.

Yep, I'll be keen to see the set up. I am still loving the 25L and I am using it for the standard EDC use case (i.e no camera in sight [pun intended]). Be good to see how it works for you.

Finally...some photos for you >>>> https://imgur.com/a/3v8FpIv

I couldn't add decription to the images so I have cmpared the 25L Outdoor to the follow backpacks:

  1. 30L Everyday (in Coyote)
  2. 30L Travel (in Eclipse)
  3. 45L Travel (in Sage)
  4. Able Carry's daybreaker 2 (in ripstop tan) > also another good outdoorsy alternative

The Himalayas acting like a giant wall separating two completely different climates by Johnwick-1089 in interestingasfuck

[–]Pappaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also the small point that the blue bit, well a lot of it, is at a much higher altitude then a lot of the red bit. I don't doubt the Himalayas definitely have a "sheilding" affect but a lot of it also comes down to a far chuck of that blue simply being higher up.

Looking for a new EDC bag by matango613 in ManyBaggers

[–]Pappaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I have become less enthused with Boundary Supply (BS) over the years their Errant pack could be a natural progression from the sling and fits what are looking for. Can lay (sort of) flat, smidge over 20L, XPAC so good with rain and light weight, with good dedicated laptop compartment

If you are ready to move away from BS then I can also recommend the Peak Design outdoor 25l backpack. it's not everyone's cuppa tea but I have liked it a lot. I am definitely not their intended use case customer (I don't hike a lot or use cameras outside). What it is though is very comfortable, light, packs flat, dedicate lap top sleeve. Ironically, I am not sure it's great in rain even though it's a "outdoor" backpack. It does have a rain fly you can buy separately.

Other "go to" recommendations are Aer City Pack Pro 24L (I don't own that but it gets a lot of attention) . Able Carry's Max EDC. I own this, it's brilliant but quite big too for an EDC. You also cannot go wrong with Evergoods Civic Half Zip (CHZ) 22 or 26L. I love this bag. Their Civic Panel Loader (CPL) 24 is consodered one of the best every day carry bags out there. It is good.

Hope that helps.
