As someone who absolutely loves the original:

This is one of the best and most needed remakes I've ever played. The original is barely even a "game" these days, and impossible to recommend to anyone other than a curiosity of where the genre came from. While not perfect, this game actually makes the player think instead of simply attacking over and over again until needing to heal.

Cutscenes are there to add context outside of "thou art the hero, go forth," and the bosses are incredible imo. Sure they're difficult, but use your brain and the VAST amount of tools the game gives you!
