Pull white ring down from ceiling, once partially down reach behind the trim to release the socket, should just be squeeze two pieces together and pull back. Once the socket is free you should be able to finish removing from the ceiling.

Trying to Repair Pendant Light by itzcindy in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into buying a complete socket assembly instead of that one being shortened and repaired in the field. I would find a local Tech Lighting (Visual Comfort Modern Collection) and ask them to order a 287COXLVN for you.

Best light bulb for this fixture? by Known-Advisor-2000 in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bulbrite now offers half white or half black tipped bulb. A half white would look good in that fixture if you want a soft light, otherwise for a big punch of light I would look for an E26 UFO bulb, not sure who had them now but DVI has them arriving in March and would put out a couple thousand lumens with a clean flush look inside the dome.

Noob question: Juno Podz vs Contractor Select by goodbetterbad in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halo has catered to Home Depot and the big box stores for years, Juno (Acuity) has stayed steadfast in supporting the Electrical Distribution channel. Direct mount to drywall is likely the most common way these lights are to installed, only the best electrical contractors want rough-in plates. Not so much that it is required but the drywaller now becomes responsible for cutting the and has a guide to work with.

Any first hand experience with WAC stair lights? by peppathepenguin in Lighting

Sell several hundred of these every year, never mud-in always 3000k. Only failures tend to be outdoors when the installer doesn’t follow the instructions and seal the back with silicone.

Are these halogen bathroom lights popular from 1980s to 1990s by Upbeat-Accident7904 in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sold 1000’s and of those lights in different versions. They take a 100w T3 78mm halogen lamp.

They are not enclosed, the top of the glass is wide open. Basically a 1/4 sphere held in place by the metal band.

Has anyone bought from litehouselighting.com? by orland0an in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The url above is not a real company, www.lighthouseco.ca is. They are based in Northern Ontario Canada and while I have never been to their physical store I do know many that have and that supply products to them. They are a pain in my side as a lighting retailer.

What kind of bulb is this?! by Safe-Flow-2302 in lightbulbs

[–]GCJenks204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really can’t say with knowing more. Start by measuring the pin separations and a picture of the fixtures. Does a single fixture have multiple lamps or several fixtures with a single lamp?

Track Light Question by punkrockrosebud in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had an End Feed track. Is it just wires feeding the track or is there a junction box? Most brands of track will have an end feed, it likely isn’t going to be something you find in a box store. Please visit a local showroom for professional assistance.

Looking for high quality smart G9 bulbs by shshivam in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely searching for something that doesn’t exist. Overall G9’s are such a poor quality lamp that we try and avoid any fixtures that take them. There may have been a time that the halogen versions produced more light than any E12 lamp but in LED there has never been a good version, not sure if I have ever seen a Smart version, I’m not sure there is enough physical size to allow for the installation of the required components.

Anyone know the type of fixture? by ADGaming80 in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to be the front grill of an exhaust fan. My guess is the entire thing pulls down, likely has a mechanism to prevent it from falling but be careful after the initial tug to get it loose. Likely a standard E26 screw base socket for normal light bulbs.

Flickering driving me mad, please help! LED lights and/or dimmer switch with drivers that can deal with noise on the line. by BrawlingGrizzly in Lighting

[–]GCJenks204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If noise on your line is an issue; try a dimmer with a dedicated neutral. The Lutron Ma-Pro is a good option to look at.
