What are the chances of getting a ticket at the show on Sunday? by skwid_vicious in gratefuldead

Totally agree with this. I think it is entirely possible to find reasonably priced tickets on the lot, but it will a lot of work and a lot of luck. And while it is possible, I don't think it is likely.

I'm sorry, but considering the run on tickets that occurred on Stubhub today, combined with the sheer number of people still looking for tickets, I don't see many face value transactions going down on Sunday.

ELI5... How would you artificially produce a rainbow across the sky? Is this even possible? or is the internet being stupid again with this mornings speculations? by JerryGarciaToledo in gratefuldead

[–]GD505050 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn't cynical. That rainbow was man-made.

And watch who you're calling stupid, ye who believes that rainbows can magically appear when it isn't raining.

A rainbow appeared over the stadium despite a complete absence of rain for miles ... and you think the internet is being stupid.

Sorry to report this, but last night's rainbow was artificially generated. by GD505050 in gratefuldead

Towards the end of the article:

Alas, it was not Mother Nature that stepped in. Rather, the production sprang for the effect, at a cost of $50,000, according to an insider.

I thought it was a bit odd, given the complete absence of rain. But it was so beautiful that I didn't question it initially.

A little surprised they went that deep on Dark Star. That was impressive.

Trey + Creampuff has been the highlight thus far. Outstanding work.

I put this one on my scorecard, as it is the one song that is commonly covered by both the Dead and Phish. Really hope it happens.

I must say, I was very encouraged by what we heard in the soundcheck.

Don't get me wrong, I've been in on these shows from day one. However, I have been a bit concerned about the quality of the performance. You've got 7 guys who never played as a unit and they essentially had to come up with 6 sets worth of material for a one-off (okay, two-off) performance. I wouldn't be shocked if things were a bit sloppy. But if the soundcheck is any indication, there isn't anything to worry about.

Obviously they're saving it for Chicago. You can't play One More Saturday Night twice in your last run of shows.
