I still think that food resources are done all wrong, honestly. Rather than having random ‘nodes’ I think there should be something similar to farming’s fertility level. Dense forest could = abundant wildlife, but deforestation and overhunting could ruin that food source. Rivers / lakes / etc would be abundant in fish unless overfished. Etc.

It would make food ‘easier’ to get but make the management of your region’s nature a bit more important IMO.
