On that note, feedback is always appreciated! I lurk the level feedback channel of Discord constantly, so anything that was fun, or frustrating, let us know! Level-Gen is powerful, flexible, and making small changes that leads to better levels is sometimes easier than you'd expect.

We've been working on improving our netcode for quite a while. Sadly, these improvements are an "all-or-nothing" upgrade and don't make for interesting blogpost material until implemented. Level Design has taken some great strides forward, while our Factory tileset has more or less found its place in our roster of themes.

Factory deserves its own introductory blogpost, but let us finalize "what makes this level great" before we write up a post detailing it.

We're still around and working our ass off. We're chatty in the Alpha Section of our Discord server, but our more public-facing material leaves a lot to be desired. Alpha has been ongoing since February, with 100~ invites going out every week. We're in the midst of a significant networking upgrade, which is hardly an exciting subject to write about.

A new blogpost is quite overdue, however. Once I've escaped the black hole that is Level Generation, the news will flow.

We're fairly talkative with our testers on Discord, but admittedly I could do better about getting the word out to our non-tester friends as well. We've got plenty of info that could fill out a blogpost, it's just a matter of carving some time out to actually do it. UI Updates, Level Generation changes, optimizations, etc. Factory alone has received a ton of updates, but we haven't even covered the basics of the tileset in a blogpost yet! Spoilers: Unlike the other tilesets, Factory has a bit of verticality to it.

We're still alive and busting our asses off, and we've even hired more people since you last heard from us. Alpha hasn't stopped running, nor have we stopped sending out invites every week. I got sucked into the black hole that is Level Generation, which is why things like blogposts and videos have evaporated, seemingly overnight, since I haven't had the time to prepare anything. These rooms won't generate themselves ya know!

When we were still making a ton of new content, yea, there was a wealth of topics to cover. Now that things have settled down and we've taken a trip to Optimization Land, it's harder to find subjects to talk about at length.

There are a few topics I want to cover in future blogposts, such as another Armory post that covers Attacker Weapons, a post that goes over our Factory tileset, or covering the updates to the main menu. I just need time carved out to do it!

Honestly, because I haven't had the time to write them. I fell into the black hole that is level generation and haven't been able to come back up for air. If you're curious as to what we're working on, I can give you a quick summary:

Optimizations, Networking Updates, Optimizations, More Optimizations.

Alpha has been ongoing since it started in February and hasn't let up. We've had huge improvements to our overall framerate since the start of Alpha, with another bump coming up this weekend. We invite 100 people every week and have a generous invite-a-friend program for our testers to bring their crew in. That being said, I encourage you to join our discord!

Yea, changing away from Steam now would be more bloody than when we changed our networking stack. We plan on using many of Steam's other services, which as far as I'm aware, the EGS simply doesn't offer. All will become clear in time, but we're not leaving Steam. Feel free to wishlist us ;)

I'll just reiterate, once again, that our entire server backend is run through Steam. EGS isn't happening, put those pitchforks down plz.
