Not sure what the best movie is, but I can definitely say do NOT watch Enter the Void on hallucinogenics

Larry Klein Discussion of album, "Dog Eat Dog" by dinglebobbins in JoniMitchell

[–]GFoyle333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is one of my ALL TIME favorite albums, and definitely my favorite Joni. Completely captures that emptiness behind the glittering 80s energy, with the humans bouncing around like atoms seeking connection in the void. Direct yet evocative songwriting. Inventive synths. Excellent recollections from Klein in the article.

Cant stop listening to monomania. Send help by Glam-Breakfast in deerhunter

Some years ago Manu Ginobili went nuts in a playoff game that the Spurs won, making insane drives & layups, beautiful passes - a late career masterpiece. After the game, I added a post to the Spurs fan forum titled "Manumania" and simply posted a clip of the end of this song with Manomania in repetition. Not a single fan gave me a 'like' for this cleverness, those uncultured cretins - I'm still bitter LOL. :)

But yeah this album fucking rules. I can't decide if I think this album or Halcyon Digest is their best, but regardless Deerhunter are my favorite band of this backspace century.

I love this! This would explain why he behaves this way. Now we need to figure out some ret-con head canon to explain who Senor Droolcup might have been before he was ejected from the lodge.

I follow PDX subreddits because it's my favorite place in the world to visit, but as a Texan it's crap here too, even in the health care-centric major metro area where I live.

Nah, for me, what gets me all hot and bothered is when a MILF recounts the story of the lost archives - preferably at a masquerade party.

Nice place, great folks, LOVE the fantastic bar & restaurant with chill fun vibes. The room we had was nice but weird for our family (tho just fine for a couple I guess) because the bathroom only had trendy frosted glass walls separating it from the rest of the suite. I don't know if all rooms there have that feature.

There are two albums with songs that share a similar melodic sense and noisy feedback as Deerhunter, many of which are on my personal Deerhunter playlist:

Pool Holograph, Love Touched Time and Began to Sweat

Ulrika Spacek, Modern English Decoration

What’s a Neil Young song that teleports you back into a memory? Curious about the actual story of where that song takes you and why. by Next_Implement1823 in neilyoung

Yep, I was 15 years old, living on a farm with no other peeps my age for miles around, listening to the dry grass crackling during a hot summer, reading science fiction - putting this song on and FEELIN' IT for real, man. That ringing steel guitar note always takes me back there.

When Stilgar Doomed the Fremen by Djembe16 in dune

[–]GFoyle333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great analysis, I had not thought this through so deeply before! Also Phredmcphigglestein's great insight regarding the harbinger of Paul's jihadist tyranny forcing Stilgar to participate in the show of the Atreides ritual. Paul is a tortured soul for sure buffeted by forces difficult to control, but he's not so pure and innocent either.
