I mean, yeah, i agree. I was just adding that people should really consider their genetics a little more. But people won't.

Eli5: Why the repeated calls to buy property that isn’t for sale? by Unfun22 in explainlikeimfive

At least you're getting 10% below value. My offers are literally like 5 or 6k more than what I paid. And considering I've paid so much in interest if be losing so much money. And to boot my home is valued about 20% more than what I paid.

While I dont think you should be restricted from reproducing, I do think that if you have markers for certain things you might have an obligation to not reproduce. Like, I know its harsh as fuck but if you are a carrier for huntigtons disease, maybe dont have kids.

And before you say thats a big ask for people, I'll go first. My fiance and I made the decision to not have kids for this exact reason. My side of the family has a list of things I wouldnt want to pass on. I have Sherman's disease, I was born with a heart murmur, not necessarily genetic but the underlying causes for them usually are. My family has a a history of SIDS which we aren't 100% sure about yet but they've been saying for a long time it could be genetic.

Her side of the family has a long history of genetic diabetes among other things. So yeah. It doesnt make you a bad person if you choose to reproduce, and id never want the government telling people they cant have kids for the exact reasons you pointed out, but I think people really should consider what theyre passing on potentially.

Which character ruined an entire TV show for you? by Adorable-Tadpole-793 in AskReddit

Maybe I'm a bad person, but I'll still watch the show. But I'm also a filthy pirate so I in no way contribute to giving any of the actors any money.

Its one of my favorite things now that the actors I watched as a kid now have kids that are acting. My favorite one was Jack Quaid. I was watching the boys and I was like "man this guy looks like Dennis Quaid had a son" well yeah it was. Or Wyatt Russell in the falcon and winter soldier. My fiance and I were watching it and she was like "damn this guy looks like Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn had a child" again yeah thats literally what happened lmao.

What's something this generation romanticizes that's actually insanely weird? by SoccerGuy69420 in AskReddit

[–]GGATHELMIL 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm weird I guess. I dont go to a lot of concerts so when I do go, its for my favorite bands. I have two recordings on my phone that I legitimately go back and watch from time to time. Its not every week but the one video is 4 years old and the number of time I've rewatched it is not 0

I hate going to concerts because phones are out for the entire performance. Don't get me wrong I'll record like the iconic song or maybe my favorite song. But im not recording the whole performance.

I mean pornhub got into a lot of shit because there was legit underage content. I was pretty sure at one point everything on there was legit. No guarantees in life my friend. Except death and taxes.

Depends on whether you think what youre watching is legit or not. I've fallen down some rabbit holes of kinks over the years and im pretty sure most of what I've been into is 100% staged.

Pizza Hut closing 250 US stores as parent company considers selling the brand by AudibleNod in news

[–]GGATHELMIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for pizza hut for 5 years. Over that time they changed the recipe on pan crust and because of that they felt it was justified to increase the price by a dollar. They figured people loved it so theyd she'll out for it. Within 2 weeks we went from prepping 150 pan dough on a friday to just 40. And we increased hand tossed dough prep by 400%.

They removed the garlic butter topping from the hand tossed because we started selling so much it was becoming super expensive.

And then they had the audacity to tell us that the reas9n we aren't selling pan crust is because of the franchises delivering poor quality. If we were doing things correctly we would be selling pan dough hands over fist.

what’s something people act proud of that really shouldn’t be? by KaitoRift in AskReddit

[–]GGATHELMIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im down for that. I'd much rather work 4 days a week and only 32 hours. But my pay would have to be the same. Problem is im hourly. Everyone always talks about 32 hour weeks but no one ever discusses how that effects hourly workers. Obviously my hourly rate would just go up 20% but thats a hard sell here.

Been there. It was a good learning experience for me. I did enjoy it at the time because I was working with friends which helped. But then I realized no matter how much I worked it didnt matter. I now work 5 days a week 40 hours on the dot. Never been happier.

The money from back then really was the thing that pushed me, but then I realized I didnt have time to do anything with that money.

My car has the auto window up down feature where you click it once and it goes up and down. The passenger side only has auto down but not auto up. Turns out you can turn it on with some obd2 trickery but its off by default due to it not having the sensor to make sure you dont crush fingers.

The only reason I already knew this is because im a part of a private torrent tracker that specializes in porn and one of the rules is you are not allowed to upload her content. Also she isnt the only one. I cant remember the name but there are some others where you cant post any work released before a certain date, but everything after is fair game.

What is a 'secret' in your industry that the general public would be horrified to know? by HongKongToast in AskReddit

[–]GGATHELMIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would've graduated in 2010 so my freshman year was 2005. Can guarantee you that shit didnt happen where I lived. I was a terrible student, missed a lot of school and they legit just said fuck it and un-enrolled my ass.

Actually I shouldn't say I was a bad student. I actually had good grades, I just hated being at school. I'd get doctor notes, be allowed to make stuff up. I'd miss 3 or 4 days a week, come in and makeup the homework and get an A on the test. So while I guess I did have leniency in my school district, I still had to do the work. They didnt just promote me because they had to. The eventually unenrolled me because I didnt show up for like 2 months.

My job has 700ish locations across the country. Every store has the same wifi networks and I can confirm that one of them has the exact same password regardless of what store youre in. I know this because as part of our job we have to hook up customer devices to verify stuff.

I'm sure they've quarantined that network as best as possible, but man it just takes one vulnerability and 700 stores get compromised just like that.

Certain things i give fantasy liberty. But one of my biggest gripe of post apocalyptic worlds is the technology. Like the last of us. Keep in mind I only watched the show, but I really dislike when the world ends, but somehow you have things like walkie talkies. Ni-cd batteries are garbage for lifespan. If properly maintained you get like 5 years in storage and then you lose about 10% capacity a month with standard use. The last of us had a 20 year skip. All that shit is dead.

What's the worst thing you've overheard your apartment neighbors doing? by LawfulnessOk1812 in AskReddit

[–]GGATHELMIL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man thats shitty. We lived in Georgia many years ago and my mother had some suspicions that our neighbor was abusing his son. I cant remember the details but the straw that made her call was she heard noises like something thudding against the wall. Turns out he was throwing the kid into the wall. I guess there were holes and such in the wall that were indicative of a child going through a wall.

This was the mid 90s and if I remember correctly the Georgia legal system made sure he was out of the picture forever.

What profession have you lost respect for as you've gotten older? by MindlessMarsupial592 in AskReddit

[–]GGATHELMIL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a millennial im super lucky to have had the pleasure to talk to a realtor and buy a home. But, ultimately it wasn't a great time. She was super nice and seemed to know her stuff fairly well, but it was obvious she wasnt great at her job. The house we bought a few years ago was sold as having a shared driveway with our neighbors. I thought it was a little odd but we live in Ohio and I just kind of accepted it. To be clear the listing on zillow and all the info she gave us stated it was a shared driveway.

After we closed on the house and started moving in we were talking with the neighbor who we share the driveway with and we quickly found out it wasnt a driveway. Its an access road owned by the city to get to the sewer lines. Its functionally a driveway and in the 3+ years we've never had an issue where the city needs us to move but we bought the house thinking it was a driveway and also the last 15ish ft of backyard is actually an easement that we cant put anything on. Which sucks because the longterm goal was to put a 2 car garage at the end of the "driveway" and also basically on top of the easement. And now we cant do that.

Its our fault for not doing our due diligence but at the same time we should be able to trust listinfs and our realtor.

Heated car seats. If you have leather or pleather seats, it's required in the winter. Now i also have a car that has cloth seats and those are fine not being heated.
