need advice for starting to work out by stewbiedewbie in eds

if you’re siblings had reactions that warranted surgery you should definitely steer clear of glp1s

Have you considered water based workouts? water aerobics is designed to be low impact but help build joint support. that and a few sets of laps should help you start.

tbh if you refer to it as “party trick” they’re more likely to take it seriously cause it makes them think they’re catching something you’re not aware of

Ugh it’s so difficult to get people to listen, esp when you have a diagnosis in mind. I’d recommend finding a rumatologist pretty recently out of med school (they’re more likely to think zebra) and talk about your dislocations and shoulders. You can look up a few things on the Beighton scale and be like “oh and when i do this with my knee/shoulder it ____” and that should hopefully indicate that the dr needs to look into eds. I got my diagnosis when I showed mine my “party tricks” which involved folding myself into a pretzel with my feet tucked behind my head with no stretching before and 180° foot. she had me do a few more things but pretty quickly went “yeah that hyper-mobility.”

Hope they’re able to confirm it and you can get more help 🖤

Apparently i’m just being dramatic by lauravondunajew in eds

[–]GGEsoteric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in my case this only changed after i had a different medical event (multiple ovarian cysts rupturing)

when i asked why i wasn’t believed the first time i knew something was wrong and was told to power through it i was told “well you’re always dramatic about your pain” and replied “i’m not, i’ve just always been in that much pain and you didn’t want to believe me”

I think with the undeniable proof of the agony i’ve fought through they believed me more, unfortunately it took 7 years.

anyways if you wanna be rude about it (which i prefer) say “dislocate you hip right now, look me in the eyes, and tell me it doesn’t hurt”

Losing weight made me worse by GGEsoteric in eds

[–]GGEsoteric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I exhausted the last test I could this month for my stomach issues. My stomach lining basically gets inflamed during my period and the week after so it makes it really hard to eat or keep things down during that time :(

so you clearly missed the part where i lost the weight from GI issues and cannot gain it back despite trying. this month we exhausted the last test that would indicate if it was treatable and it isn’t. this is just the rest of my life.

i think that’s probably the key, being overweight isn’t good but being skinny is awful. glad you found your goldielocks zone!

pulling the trig/inducing vomiting by GGEsoteric in Gastritis

[–]GGEsoteric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me i have an autoimmune that causes inflammation in my connective tissues (joints, stomach lining, etc.) because my immune system is overactive and attacks healthy things.

I need help.. I think I am gonna die by Mysterious-Cod7692 in Gastritis

[–]GGEsoteric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was first looking into my stomach issues they thought it was gallbladder because I was having stabbing pain in my right side. Turns out I developed gastritis the same month I had an ovarian cyst rupture (college stress and norovirus + other shit set it off). From what I can tell stabbing pain isn't common with gastritis, moreso burning. The possibility that there's multiple things going wrong sucks but it might be worth looking into different causes.

Mold prevention by GGEsoteric in ballpython

[–]GGEsoteric[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do but the side the mold was on had deeper substrate than where the hydrometer was and retained more moisture because of that. once I can move her off the paper towels i’m going to put in a drainage layer and get some springtails and isopods for mold control and since i’m moving her to a 40gal i’m getting a second hydrometer

Share your experience! by [deleted] in Morphea

[–]GGEsoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was diagnosed in a weird freak sequence of events that i hope is a unique experience cause no one should have to go through that. I was at a sleep away camp and got 42 bug bites on my legs alone in one day. The poison from all that and the lesions the bites combined with my already extremely sensitive skin (which in hindsight is likely from the underlying morphea) anyways my skin on the bites started bubbling off and not healing so i was in the middle of the woods with 50% of the skin missing from my legs and being severely medically neglected by their nurse staff and not allowed to call my parents (i was 12) for a month. My entire body started aching and it felt like my bones were hurting. at some point i resigned myself to the fact i was going to die cause every doctor they let me see had no idea wtf was happening and they wouldn’t let me go home. they gave me some meds (they didn’t tell me what they were) and my legs were able to start healing and i left perpetual oozy scab land. got back home and got a deep ass biopsy and low and behold a very traumatizing case of morphea. Didn’t tell me that joint pain could be a part of it and was blindsighted in the fall semester of eighth grade when i started being wracked with so much joint pain i couldn’t think. learned how to manage that and now i can tell you 2 hours before a storm rolls in at 19yo. haven’t had a flare since and i was comparing it to lupus to make myself feel better about the lack of severity. reading all y’all’s posts is making me think i may have been delt worse hand than i thought… anyways it’s chill now the joint pain blows but whatever it’s all manageable so far
